eh anyone got a Taichung -> Nantou + SML + Cingjing + Hehuanshan cab driver recommendation?

Also just in case, from Cingjing -> Hualien ? Any recommendation ?

Hello,

I think thats going to take you more than a day to finish the tour. Taichung -> Nantou + SML + Cingjing + Hehuanshan

I guess you are going to (taichung sun moon lake) or 淘米生态村 or 埔里酒厂,九族文化村, 清境農場 and 和欢山。

This will take you more than a day.
Many singaporeans went to he huan shan. Usually Jan, there will be 樱花。 but ailishan is a better place to watch 樱花 (the fried mushroom and bamboo chicken is nice). During winter period, there might be snow. Summer is nice too :)

Since you are in taichung, i suppose you will go to fengjia, yizhong..ect. Dong hai is another place where many singaporeans doesnt know. you might be interested too. Go see the grass-mud horse, its popular in taichung too.
Fengjia night market - go try 小A cheese, 小胡子prawn,黄金贼。
Dong hai - famous for chicken feet, dessert, kua bao.

I am a singaporean living in taiwan(PR) for sometime, I am basically helping out on the information of the places of interests if you need, i do not provide any cab driver or other sort of services.

I am doing out of goodwill and i might need some time to response to the email.
my email: laogao7 at hotmail or pm me.

For Yehliu, jiufen and shifen, is it advisable to take cab for 2? Also what is the price range?

if you die die have to visit the above mention places, i would suggest you hire a private driver.

If not you can consider the following if you are not in a rush.

台北--->九份--->金瓜石--->基隆夜市
There is a bus stop at the mrt exit opposite 忠孝東路上, there is a HILIFE store (萊爾富) beside it. Interval of 30mins per bus (if i remember correctly)

The bus will take you to 九份and金瓜石.
I am sure you know what to do in 九份. As for 金瓜石, its actually nearby, around 2-3km. You can google it.

After you are done in the two places, you can take a bus to 基隆市區. What people like to eat is seafood because it is a port and its more expensive. Tell you frankly, the seafood is specially for tourtist. Local 基隆people know where to eat. :)

After that you can take a bus from 基隆 back to taipei. Please take note of the timing if you chose this route.

You can chose this route if you have the time and adventure spirits.

Otherwise, if you prefer to chose another romantic route, feel free to email me. I can suggest you a dating route. :) haha...

My email: laogao7 at hotmail
or you can pm me.

Please take note that i am helping out of goodwill, might take some time to response. good luck!

Depends on how willing are you to travel ;).

Don't just stay in Taipei, but then again there are outskirts of taipei like Jiufeng,Pingxi, Keelung ,Wulai that worth a visit. Each trip down there will take .5 days at least.

Strongly recommend you take a train ride down to Hualian and visit Taroko national park.

Since most of your group member is all aunties & uncles, i would suggest you train to plan less travelling on the road. Maybe HSR is a good option depending where you are going.

I would suggest more sightseeing locations. Aunties & uncles at their age, might want to go Alishan. Haha... coz of the song, 阿里山的姑娘。

Spend a few days in taipei, taichung and some spots along the way should be fine.

Draft out your itinerary first, the rest of the people might be able to advice more.

If you need more information,

Hi peepz,

Any recommendations for good drivers/guides to fetch a party of 4-5 pax from Taichung --> Cingjing --> Taichung?

Plan to stay in Cingjing for 3D2N, so the guide should be able to bring us round or something like that...

And Taichung about 3D2N or something like that..

Any good guides to recommend?

My rate for Mr Chiang's taxi team was NTD3000 per car for abt 12hr drive to Keelung, Pingsi, Pitou, Jiufen, Jinguashi then night market then back hotel.

Quite good and knowledgable about many places. They even argue where to go faster and which eatery is better! Funny and arguing with his peer drivers in hokkien in army style via radio comms.

Very considerate and prompt eg. My kids wanna pee or poo, he quickly pop by 7/11 for us and very polite too. Thumbs up for Mr Chiang's team!

My cousin in Taipei is a taxi driver and part time tour guide. His charges are NT2000 per day, not inclusive of petrol (customer just make sure petrol top up to full tank at the end of the day, petrol is cheaper than Singapore), total inclusive of fuel about NT3000 per day. Vehicle is Honda Accord. Very cheerful guy, interested pls PM me.

haha or u can try splitting it to different drivers perhaps? can only confirm with u depart cingjing-hehuanshan-taroko gorge-arrive hualien is ntd5000. depart sml-puli-cingjing is ntd2500-3000. actually sml-formosa don't need hire full day cab. this is because u might just spend almost the whole daylight there to play...can take cable car back to sml and take boat back to pier. actually it is a time+convenience VS price issue. u got to weigh them and choose the 1 u prefer... at a cost.

Engaged services from Mr Lin via email. He was not available during my group's travel period, so Mr Liu was with us for the actual journey.

Mr Liu is not the funky kind of driver (he looked more like a father to us), he brought us to some places to buy certain foodstuff like sun biscuit and didn't really mind when we altered the itinerary a little on arrival. Though we booked the minsus ourselves, he would always give them a call before going to ensure the minsu staff is ready to host us. Driving wise, steady and safe due to his experience. According to him, he can go most of Taiwan, but I think his strong area would be Taichung. His vehicle is a Wish MPV..

taichung cab driver

Hi All,

I am looking for a driver to drive us from Cingjing to Taichung and tour around Taichung for one day. We have 6 adults and 2 kids. Anyone with recommendations?

Thank you :)

Hello i have a driver to recommend! Mr Chen, he can be contacted via LINE or WHATSAPP or EMAIL. +886 933 502 799 abc093350279 @ gmail.com

He was introduced to me by a friend. Extremely friendly and helpful man. We arranged for him to pick my family (4 pax) up from Cingjing. Send us to Puli to see the Temple and back to taipei. He suggested bringing us to the Brewery and 18C Chocolate shop.

Along the way he also stopped at a very very good deep fried mushroom shop, and upon hearing that i liked Tai Yang Bing, he drove me to an authetic Taichung shop to try samples and told me there was no pressure for me to buy. We also stopped at some scenic spots en route where he felt that we should come down to see the place. During the first half of the ride, I realise that i forgot to return the minsu keys and was beginning to panic the because we already drove a distance. He was very calm and drove us to the nearest post office to have the keys left there for the minsu owner to collect. After that we realise we left a carton of biscuits in the minsu restaurant! I was telling him that if he was going up to Cingjing soon he can have the biscuits, but he said that he would be going up in a few days and he would have the biscuits delivered to my hotel in taipei, which got to me the very next day. During lunch, we were eating at a cheap Taiwanese rice place when an accident happened. A car and a motorcycle collided and the motorcyclist was quite badly injured as he had a bleeding wound on his head. Mr Chen immediately stopped eating and called an ambulance. He went to the site and helped divert traffic and also set up chairs at the side to make sure no vehicles go near the man.

On the whole my family liked him alot as he has shown himself to be a reliable driver who is thoughtful and helpful. I will definitely engage his services again when i go to Taiwan. :s22:
