Urgently looking for driver

Hi all, can ask for your help please?! My trip is next Tue!! Just 2 of us travelling. We have booked airfare and accomodation but havent had the time to sort out the itinerary!

We are spending 2 nights in CingJing, 2 nights in Hualian and 4 nights in Taipei.

Upon touching down around 6am, we plan to take HSR from airport to Taichung. We are looking for a driver who can pick us up, tour Taichung and SML, then send us to our minsu in CingJing.

I see most drivers use SUV for 6-7 pax. If only 2 of us, how do people travel around? Our concern is mostly on first day, we want to tour Taichung and SML along the way to CingJing but want to travel with peace of mind leaving our lugguage in the car. Its so difficult to take public and lug the lugguage around.

Other days, i think we can figure out how to take public.

Any recommendation for drivers for just 2 pax for Taichung and SML please?

Thanks!

Would like to seek help in sourcing for driver from Hualien to Cingjing (with Dayuling, HHS and etc stops along the way). Tiffany's husband is booked on the day I wanted. Already e-mailed Ms Gu but she has yet to reply me since last night..probably busy. Any other recommended cab drivers for this route? Many thanks in advance!

I don't really think is cheap for hiring cab from forum here.
1 day 10hrs paying for 3200 TWD for 5 pax still ok.
but if only 2/3pax really boh-wah.
some TW web site say per day should not exceed 3000TWD
are we paying too high???????:s8:

I think those highly recommended cabbies are charging a premium for the so called "good", "recommended", "safe driver", etc..

We flag down a cab (at abt 9am) after being flew airplane by a highly recommend cab driver on the forum (shall not mention who, but when you email him, he'll ask you to whatsapp, your budget and ask who recommended him to you, where we were quoted NT4000 for 8 hours and can only cover Jiufen and Shifen.

Anyway, I tried my luck when we randomly flag down a cab and told the cab driver that we are keen on chartering the cab for the day and are keen on going Yeliu, Jiufen, Shifen and trip to end at Keelung and asked for a quote. We were quoted NT2500 and he did warned that we should keep the trip at Yeliu short, if we want to spend more time at Jiufen and Shifen.

Not being nature lovers, we chop chop walk a bit and take some pics and left in less than 2hrs. By the time we reached Keelung, it was almost 9pm. We were extremely satisfied, and tipped him extra NT1000, for the journey was a long 12 hours.

Once bitten twice shy, I did not dare to rely on that bad cab driver. Since we had a pretty great experience with random flagged down cab, we did the same on our departure day. Similarly, I told the driver our plans - to go 三峡老街, then airport and was quoted NT1500, opposed to the NT2500 by the "highly recommended driver" on forums.

Hi all

I've come to this forum a few times to research for my tw trip but have never posted anything. Since I've engaged 小奕's services last week, I thought I'd give my 2 cents worth. (Sorry for the lengthy post ahead!)

I booked him after a friend's recommendation for 2 days in Taichung with 3 friends. I asked him for recommendations in itinerary then replaced some of the suggestions with my own. He wasn't too pushy when I rejected his suggestion. Some of the places I wanted to go were too far apart so we agreed on a rough plan with compromise. My final itinerary was Day 1: pick-up from Taichung HSR > Moncoeur > Gao Mei Wetlands > dinner > Yi Zhong shopping > Sunyard minsu. Day 2: Minsu > buy tai yang bing > Carton King n Little Swiss Garden > lunch > Cingjing farm > 18deg Chocolate > Fengjia night market > dinner > hotel.

I was quoted NT$7000 for the 2 days. Though he later said through whatsapp that 1 day was usually 8 hrs and NT$4000 for 10 hrs. In the end I said we will talk in detail about extending when we are there. Then he asked if I had paid for the minsu and when I said no, he kept recommending me to change to stay in Taichung city hotel as it was cheaper and more convenient for shopping. He said that the minsu was up in the mountain in Shinshe and it would be boring with nothing to do. I was a little irritated but I was firm about it and he backed off eventually.

I found our trip with him to be quite pleasant. He was young in his mid-twenties and we could talk like friends. He did tell us about his full schedule but did not boast too much about it. But I think cos of his age and the way he talk, he may come across as arrogant. But he was always early before our meeting time and waited patiently for us and also offered to take pictures for us at places. The food places he brought us too were all very good too. He helped me to call the minsu to confirm my booking and tell them we would be late and also shared his hp hotspot with us. After he sent us to the minsu on the first night, we agreed that it was far and also inconvenient to return to the city ourselves on the 3rd day. We took up his suggestion and he helped us booked the family room at Plaza hotel at a discounted rate. We were really satisfied with the location and size of the room. He had serviced us for around 10+13 hrs for the 2 days. I think he wasn't too strict on the timing and didn't complain even if if it was too long. As I didn't talk about the final price with him, we decided to give him NT$8000 instead of the quoted NT$7000. We gave him the money at the end of 2 days and he didn't even count the money before leaving. After that he called me and asked why we gave him so much and he bought breakfast to our room the next day before meeting his next clients.

I was with him the night one of his customers messaged him to cancel after reading the forum. He was anxious and asked me to search for the posts and translate to him. That was how he knew what was written here. I hoped that I did not mistranslate anything cos my chinese is not perfect too. I shared my sentiments with him from a customer's point of view and he admitted that he was also in the wrong about not keeping his promise. But he said that he had provided a replacement driver and it was upon the customer's approval. He said that if he flew pole's aeroplane it would not do him any good and he can't get money too. He has only been in this line for less than a year and I hope he would learn from this experience.

I haven't tried any other drivers and I'm sure there would be better ones. He may still be inexperienced in handling things and also introducing the places. But I think he has fulfilled his duties as a driver well and overall I'm satisfied with his service.

Just back frm Tw 08 Nov to 17 Nov, wanna share the driver we booked for our trip. We had 5 adults and a toddler we need a bigger vehicle, found his contact from trip advisor. He drive a VW van, nice clean spacious vehicle which can sit 7 adults comfy.

We booked the driver for 7 days starting from Taoyuan airport to XinShe to Taichung to Puli to SML to Aowanda to Cingjing to Hehuanshan to Miaoli to taipei to Jiufen to shifen to houtong to keelung to Yeliu to dan shui to shilin and back to taipei.

Communicate with him on our prefer places to visits and he plan out the details for us. On days when we had no ideas what to eat he would recommend. And tried some nice local restaraunts. which is nice and cheap. best is the seafood he recommend us @ FuGui cape, fresh seafood at reasonable price. Easy-going fellow, on way also explained to us the places of interest. One gd incident is when we cant find a proper toilet to change baby's diaper, he drove us to the police station and ask the police let us use their toilet.

if interested can contact him 魏子雲 (Xiao Wei) @ bgbg2222@yahoo.com.tw or whatsapp him +886919055090. Communicate in chinese will is faster else in simple english will also do but may be slower in reply. Let him know is the papa of the 13 months baby tat recommend him.

My rate for Mr Chiang's taxi team was NTD3000 per car for abt 12hr drive to Keelung, Pingsi, Pitou, Jiufen, Jinguashi then night market then back hotel.

Quite good and knowledgable about many places. They even argue where to go faster and which eatery is better! Funny and arguing with his peer drivers in hokkien in army style via radio comms.

Very considerate and prompt eg. My kids wanna pee or poo, he quickly pop by 7/11 for us and very polite too. Thumbs up for Mr Chiang's team!

Hi! can i have Mr Chiang's contact plsssss? thanks!

Hi,

I had an enjoyable time for my trip to taichung with the same driver too! :)

Shall share what's good and what's bad for this driver. (Personal opinion yea.)

Pros:
Provides free hotspot on the go. Especially youngsters like us love to use 3G to be connected to friends even though we are overseas. This is really a bonus for me as the taiwan 3G SIM card doesn't come cheap.

Punctual. And in fact he reach half hour earlier before our agreed time. This is really important for us travelers as every minute is a cost to us as we have limited days overseas. His punctuality helps us to go with schedule and not miss out on places that we want to visit.

Lengthened travel time. Our travel time eats late into the night and he did not charge us extra. He can choose to charge us like any other cabbies but he did not. This is a deal for me as I am traveling on a budget. Who will reject good bargains right. It really helps me to complete my travel as planned.

Free photographer. He will help us take photos at various tourist spots. It saves the hassle to ask random passerby to help us take group photos everytime we see somewhere nice and wanna take photos.

He also help us contact our hotel when we are late for check-in. Technically speaking it's none of his business but he still offered his help to contact the hotel owner to extend our check in time so we won't be stranded outside without keys.

Nice food. Omg I really must say that he brought us to the best beef noodle stall I ever had at taiwan! The beef is so tender and soft! And I love the souppp! And it's very cheap! Totally must try if you're a beef lover. There are other food of cos at your request. By the way the beef noodle is I just happen to say I love beef noodles then he bring us to find it, not included in the itinerary! Bonus again! :D

Cons:
He may be overly talkative sometimes but I realized it's the Taiwanese culture. I am okay with that actually cause it's boring to ride long rides when you're feeling awkward with the driver. I am sure you can ask him to give you some peace if you're not interested in his topics.

He may try to persuade you to go to nice local places that is not in our desired itinerary. I guess this is something that everyone is not satisfied with, including me. But come to think of it, sometimes what we plan ourselves, it is really out of the way and we may waste too much precious time traveling. So I guess it's no harm to try out local places that are nice. Just firmly say no if you're really not interested. Like for my case I insisted no museums or temples and we never step foot into any.

He only understand Chinese which may be a challenge for some of us to communicate with him. But I find it normal for traveling. Like if we go Japan or Korea, we also don't understand their language also can't blame them.

And now to share the places that I have visited in Taichung & Nantou,

Day 1. Travelled from Kaohsiung to Taichung. Reached by Taichung HSR in the morning, took a long time to find the hostel/minsu at Taichung. I stay near Fengjia Nightmarket. Start the cab ride in the afternoon to Xitou Monster Village. (Nice place for kids as the whole place is monster themed with a tinge of Japanese feel) Then we went to buy the famous Taichung tai yang ping (In my opinion the one at Taipei Jiufen is better) Then we went to Yi Zhong Nightmarket. (Definitely a good place to shop for youngsters - better than Wufenpu in Taipei in my opinion.) Then we went to Fengjia Nightmarket to shop and eat more!

Day 2. Travel to CingJing Farm at Nantou to watch the sheep and horse performance! (The place is soooooo nice with the country feel. If you don't believe just google it!) Then we went to Paper Dome. (In my opinion there's nothing much. -.- ) After we went to Puli Brewery just to grab some nice honey cake! (Don't wanna waste time looking at wine containers. :/ ) Then we went to 18 degree C to buy chocolate. (Go if you're a chocolate lover cos there are super long queue.) Then we went to Carton King and I like it very much! All the structures are made of paper and it's unique. (Can spam photos there) Then we went to eat the beef noodle! (Omg try it if you can! No regrets!) Then after we went for Karaoke (The place have super big room for singing and cheap! Not like sg.) and then to the pub!

Day 3. Travel to Summit Resort! (The place is super pretty and big! It's Eurasian feel with castle-like structures! There are lots of pretty flowers too! Bring mozzie repellent cos flowers attracts bugs!) Then Xiao Yi treats us to this dessert called 東東芋園! Thankful for it as we get to try new food! Then we went for Teppanyaki lunch. Then we went to Houli Hua Shi. (The flowers there are super pretty! A place for photoshoot! Must go if you love flowers! ) Then to Gaomei Wetlands. (Personally I really like this place as we can walk on the muddy wetlands and just enjoy playing with water and look at the pretty sunset). And that ends my journey at Taichung and I went to Taipei next. :)

Hopefully the review can help forumer out there. Basically I had a fun time at Taichung and thanks to Xiao Yi for the good drive! Don't lose trust in him if you happened to book him cause I really have no regrets. :) And my itinerary is I insist to go to those places even though it's out of the way, abit regret should have listened to his expertise I guess I would have save more time! :/

I made my airport transfer and first day car booking through Mr Chiang.
For the full day, I was assigned a Mr 徐 who drove a Toyota Wish. We were happy with his service and ended using him for another 3.5 days for Taipei.
We would tell him the places we wanted to visit and he would plan the circuit. We ended our Taipei holiday covering almost everything we planned to visit. When we were at parks where he probably felt he might not know that well, he would go into the park office and ask one of the staff to be our guide and help explain.

I also engaged another 2 drivers for HuaLien so I was able to compare the services. I must say Mr 徐 rates are reasonable and I would recommend him readily.

Cab Driver in Taiwan_Recommended

Hi all,

We have just returned from Taiwan, my sisters, wife, 2 friends from Japan and me enjoyed our stay there with this cab driver, Andy Wie. He drives a nice comfortable Toyota Wish cab that comes with wifi for his passengers to use too. Not only that, he provided us with a standard Nokia phone with Taiwan paid SIM card for us to contact each other.

We had another driver too, he is alright though... so we would only recommend this Andy Wie, whom provided us with what was promised. He driven us to TaiChung and though, during lunch, he had some wrong food but he still persist on to fulfill our trip.

We would highly recommend him to all, if you are heading to Taiwan and needs a cab driver to bring you around.

Hi evening, people might noticed that I had a flight delay by JET STARRRRR REMEMBER to buy insurance if u take flight by them.

My trips to taipei is very pleasant except for the FLIGHT DELAY and raining everyday (Monday to Friday).
As my planning is very rush and tight I booked two weeks ago and fly to taipei. So I decided to get a driver to drive me to important places so I can show people that I actually went to Taipei.

So I see a lot of mix comments and such, I choose Mr Chang services.

Heres are the following rates I engage with him.
Round trip from airport to hotel $1100
Hotel to airport $1000.
My hotel provided the following for 1200. So I choose mr Chang.

When they fetch u, they are using private car and they will drive u to a car garage to change to xiao huang ( yellow cab). And I asked why, they explained to me that airport forbidden other cab from coming except authorized by them. That's why charge extra 100nt when fetching.

And I asked why charge so expensive for a round trips, they said because normally its one way, cause they can't fetch any customers there. They are friendly people who are okie with lots of questions. Lol my gf and I very kpo.

行程:野柳→基隆廟口→陰陽海→黃金瀑布→鼻頭角→金瓜石→九份→十份瀑布→放天灯
Following trips are quoted 3200, I noticed some said 3000. I'm very okie with the fee they quote. I will let u know why.

Mr Chiang told me they operate in groups of 10 plus drivers and at times he only arrange and not drive himself. I said I'm okie as long as u provide me excellent service. He laughs and said definitely.

So the trips is organized by a guy call mr hao, he's 35 single and young getting married next year lol. Want to earn more money to get marry! Sorry lol reveal his personal life.
See this is the relationship we build throughout the trips, and a happy trip. Unforgettable. Okie end of chit chatting.
First place is 野柳, stones stones stones and tourists a lot sia.
Second is 基隆廟口 boring, it's not those night markets u see like. Shillin or shi da night market. It's jus a place u eat and go, really don't have to go at night.
陰陽海 Er he will explain to u? So I don't-want to be spoiler
黃金瀑布 it's a 瀑布.
金瓜石 it's a place where Japanese occupy Taiwan and extract all their gold.
I went to their museum, quite interesting. U can go into their gold mine tunnel and such.love it
九份 okie here is the place u can get to buy pineapple biscuit souvenir blah blah quite a lot and remember to buy their paper pig skin damn nice! I bought 6. Gt a shop when u buy 5 free 1 they provide u with bubble bags.
Okie getting late so we try to rush to 放天灯.
Very interesting, their shop is beside train tracks and occasionally train will passby. They know the timing so it's okie. One thing remind to other religions except Taoist.is that in order to let the latern fly, they are actually using Joss paper. It's a tradition to them, so those who are very strict pls beware.
So ah hao handled us some Sparkles stick, I don't know how to say. A stick that burns then got sparkles. So we take some lovely pictures. Then lol he handled us Fire cracks. Very loud kind, and u throw on floor when it lights up and BANG BANG BANG. And asked we would like more? So I said yes, and he bought a box of Fire works!! Yea those fly out and give a loud bang and spread out like NDP but not that powerful la 9 in totall. Damn cool and very fun!!! And they took videos of me lighting it. And he told me its the only place which is legal there.

Bonds are being build up along the trips, we talk a lot, about their Taiwan triad, customers and tourist and their culture. And I told him that our forum are very powerful lol. And he said he knows about it, that's why only a selected few are able to work in their teams. And wish i can help him to compliments to our fellows members here.

Here are my personal experience with him. ( different people varies treatment, they too are humans, if u give them ****, they can't really give u good service.) And I seriously enjoy the trips, sorry that I am unable to provide pictures and videos as I care about my own privacy. And since I had such wonderful experience, of course I tips him. That's why I said in the first place, I'm okie with his price.

If any of u like to ask me any questions, of course. Just PM me. Hao 886915619969 as for chiang. There a post about his contact.thx
