I know people discuss this everywhere. But still, i am not sure which one I should consider. My budget is around 1.5k-2k, I dont have lcd, keyboard, mouse etc. I know desktop is definitely cheaper and stronger than laptop, but what's my concern is I only have a small desk. So what I will use for desktop/laptop, surfing, listen music, YouTube, games (although I own ps4, and don't have a lot of time to play games, but I still wish to play when I have The mood... Like witcher 3, gtav, rpg etc). And in the end, I am totally a tech noob. Please give me some advice and suggestion. Thanks :)

if you stationed only at one place.. then PC route is much more make sense.. go for mini itx case for small footprint.. such as fractal node 304..

i also had small desk problem previously.. desk length is 700mm, not enough space for 23" monitor and my casing so i bought a bigger desk.. haha

What is a mini desk? Smaller case? Is there any different with the big bulky normal desktop?

Not sure about the width, yes have a room under the desk. Where should I get the desktop huh? Custom? If yes, how? Or buying from dell/asus/Harveynorman/courts?

1. buy parts and build yourself - read from the tutorial online and watch youtube.. thats what i did
2. buy parts from the shop and ask them to build for you .. eg shops such as pcthemes and cybermind etc
3. ask from the individual to build according to your list/budget.. there are few guys here in HWZ that build customise pc for you
4. buy from Aftershockpc, at least you can customise some parts
5. buy pre-built pc from the shop you mentioned :s22:

What's the quote of this current spec now? Your $2k budget left how much?

It's way expensive than my budget offer.... Current spec now cost 2700. If without the monitor and keyboard is 2450 something like that. Do u think aftershock charge too high? I

It feels high + chop carrot for those of us who rather get our hands dirty and DIY so that we can roll hard-earned/hard-saved money into better components.

That said, totally understand that some ppl like to DIY some don't. Just like some willing to clean their own house, others rather hire cleaners. If you can afford it and are willing to pay for the service they provide, can go ahead and be happy ;)

Yea... Just ease my pain hahaha. But I will change from i7 6700 to i5 6500 since one of the member told me that's not much different. And cancel the water cooling loop coz obviously I won't do overclocking....

Yeah that money saved going from an i7 to an i5 could be better utilized elsewhere, such as a better graphics card
