Thanks. Am also quite keen on Lenovo Thinkpad models. But the number of models they have within Thinkpad range is quite alot.

I got a 6th Gen for my wife and it feels great. Light weight, long battery life plus keyboard feels so good to type.

There is no other laptop I know that have all those features. Personally I like x1 keyboard over Dell xps. I had xps before.

X1 uses 45W type C charging. Very useful for your wifey cause rather than carrying the heavy charging brick around, she can use a lightweight 60w PD GAN charger around, to simul charge phone n laptop. Way better than the brick. For a ladies POV

No. The s model is 1.27KG. I own the 400 nits low-power variant, so I'm quite sure it's sub 1.3 as you requested. Sub-1.3kg is also one of my requirements, alongside being a 14" model.

Hmm. I paid 1.7k+ for mine over Black Friday last year. Taking away the Premium care, Accidental Damage protection, KYD, the $400+ WWAN card, and even reducing RAM to 16GB instead of 32GB (another $240 or so there) it would have fallen to almost $1.1k with 3y on-site warranty.

Rough specs: R7 4750U, 32GB, 512GB, 400nits LP Screen, IR Cam, Backlit KB with FP, WWAN, Win 10 Pro, Ethernet Dongle, Also added 3y Premium, 3y Accidental Care, 3y KYD. Pretty much maxed out, though I wish I added more warranty since it was discounted at point of sale.

Of course, that was with BFCM code then, which was 30%. But it was because it was cheap enough that I added all the extras without thinking too much about it.


EDIT: Just got around to checking prices, and it seems it's gone up recently - likely due to the global parts shortage. The Lenovo Ryzen thread also has users who have observed this upward trend in current pricing. With this, I don't know if you have to revise your budget upwards, relook at other options, or just wait out the parts shortage which is projected to run into next year.
