Hi, I don't know much about printers and would greatly appreciate a recommendation. Is a laser printer cheaper than inkjet as I would prefer a laser since it suits my needs?

It needs to do the following:
-Print A4 black/white and color
-Automatic Duplex
-Cheap cost per page i.e.ink refill (know its hard as printer cheap=exp ink refill)
-As cheap as possible (printer+ink refill)
-Amount of printing is just hundred pages per month

I don't need the extra shenanigans such as scan/fax/fast printing/photocopy/wireless/cloud printer etc if they add cost

As for whether its toner/inkjet, I think inkjet is cheaper?

What are some classic printer models out there on the market that fulfil this?
And which product lines are the market leaders reowned for?
Lastly, what are some reliable websites in terms of printer reviews for home?

HP Inc, Canon-Oce, Seiko Epson, Mimaki, and Roland DG.

HP extended its lead in the large format digital printer market with nearly 35% of worldwide shipments in 2Q18. HP saw nice growth in the CAD segment with new 24-inch wide models within the DesignJet T-series.

Canon maintained its number 2 position among large format printer manufacturers and grew its share of the total market to more than 22% of total shipments. The company saw a strong performance from its ImagePROGRAF CAD printers, especially the new TX-series.

Epson remained the number 3 large format printer supplier in terms of worldwide shipments with popular units including its eco-solvent and latest aqueous inkjet printers.

Mimaki overtook Roland as the number 4 supplier of large format printers worldwide in the second quarter as some of Mimaki's new models and new distribution partners are ramping up around the world.

Roland DG fell to the number 5 position in the worldwide large format printer market in 2Q18.

Thank you!

My personal experience, long term a good laser wins hands down over ink-jet.
Get a networked, color laser, as the needs may arise someday.
That's the minimum to get started, AIO is useful for small business that needs to scan/print correspondents.

Key point, is the ink won't dry-up and less maintenance for the ink head. laser print out also more professionals...

Any specific model or brand u are using?
There are so many printers that the reviews get outdated

Research on laser toner price first, a set of 4 colour easily cost $400!

Ouch but isn't toner cost effective and the ink less likely to dry up

I don't mind paying a huge upfront cost as long as its worth it in the long run

I hate aio... Because the scanners will outlast the printer portion

Of cos...It saves space

my thoughts:

those who print frequently will benefit from the cheaper ink cost of ink tank printer
those who occasionally print will benefit from laser

Ink will dry and clog print head for occasional printers, making the printer un-useable when one actually needs. But for frequent user, no such issue cos printer used daily

Personally, I use laser cos I only print 1x every few months.
Office uses mixture of laser and ink tank

No leh, standalone color laser is not that common. Ppl who buy color laser tend to go for the standalone printer as it is relatively smaller and cheaper.

Like this wan: https://www.lazada.sg/products/samsung-c430w-color-laser-printer-i111823952-s117879375.html

Less than $300.

6yrs old Xerox CP205, connect to a network hub for whole family to print.
No more warranty, so can use cheap oem ink(150$).
Patiently, waiting for it to burnt out so can justify a new AIO... :s13:

Only if you die die buy original. Inkjet cartridges are not anywhere cheaper. Yet, they dry up rather fast too.

For me, I just hooted all colours high yield chiong toner for my Brother laser colour AIO total just $120 after stacking all Qoo10 discounts.

My thoughts after using many brands of printers whether color laser or ink jet.
Research on the ink first, not the printer. Check whether got 3rd party ink in abundance.
Then shop for printer. I use brother AIO ink jet. Cheap and good with WiFi function and touch screen which cost less than $150.
Large capacity Ink from TB cost $7 per set. I print a lot as my wife and kids are studying..
