Sounds like a great basic wireless!

There is a no cost DIY method to let a wireless mouse accept AAA battery and thats using aluminum foil to act as contact point for the battery. You can refer to this youtube vid battery mod portion.

But then those AAA to AA plastic cases sold by china sellers are dirt cheap so might as well just go with that.
