recommend you buy your preferred model Brand New In Box laptop from forum here. And get a light laptop that can carry back and forth your house.When i bought my laptop 1.9KG i thought it's very light.i go gym also carry 20KG dumbbell.It's just very troublesome when you have to carry consistently every moment in your school.

don't get gaming laptop, You going to distract your study and if your laptop get overheat due to gaming, kiss goodbye to your data. With the Premium paid for gaming laptop, you can do a well off upgrade on your Desktop.

You have to consider that most light laptops have keyboards without much depth so it will be very uncomfortable to type on. Though it is true that a light laptop is more convenient( i am using a light one myself), in the end, it is still an extra 1++kg to 2kg weight you have to carry and light laptop or not, its still very troublesome. So you should weight your own pros and cons.

Gaming laptops don't always mean more expensive. Looking at the laptops sold at polys this year and the previous year, the most powerful laptops are usually the cheapest few. Cause that is how they want to market it to import and sell in bulk. If you buy a laptop without a graphic card( like mine), you are going to have to suck thumb if you need any sort of graphical power in the future.

Buying from the school's it show is usually better cause of the warranty and convenience if anything happens to your laptop.

I have a own personal laptop so I thought of intending to get another laptop as I'm being offered in Common Eng Prog in RP

What are laptops you guys can recommend for below 1k preferrable?
Mainly for study purpose thats it

why dont you just use your laptop? Or sell that one and top up to buy a better one? A good one bought in school cost about 1.2k - 1.3k?

Well, i bought the y400 on the monday morning. Its's great, like the others said. It really value for money after looking at the other models.

Sry to hijack ts thread but im also a new student this year getting a laptop but have decided on the y400. I think if you are only considering laptops offered by school than hands down y400 one of the best choices so far after I compare in terms on warranty period and gpu performances haha. Im waiting for mine to be delivered haha. Gd luck ts

Take note one of the downside of y400 is the bad hdd. Only a 5400rpm one.
