your beckman should be fine.
i have a black cherry myself, encountered the same thing.
it is somewhat the same with every other leather product, the glue dries up and hence splits, and......hence...there's a reason why items are stitched and not glued only, to ensure a "fail-safe" system, whereby the stitches hold the sole and the upper together.
anyway, u will notice the sole and the uper is stitched together. so it will not give way. that is unless u try to use a penknife to slit it.
btw, u need to clean the affected area of the shoe. as it seems to have dust collected (from the white speckles seen in the photo), which left untreated might lead to mildew and the nasty green stuff. which incidentally happened to mine. so just apply your leather care products liberally over those areas, especially the seams.
