For the resoling at the quoted price, I would assume it would be limited to what Dr. Sole makes.
FWIW, I came across a photo of a pair of Viberg with Dr. Sole's soles. Can't recall if it was on Viberg's FB or Instagram.

To my surprise, he does a lot of customisation work. All you need is $$$.

While I was there, Lin showed me a pair of done up boots, this guy requested Lin to remove the metal toe cap from the boots and to recraft it back with leather soles instead of rubber with double stitching! See the the following link for the boots I am talking about (Link: https://www.facebook.com/glorydays2009/posts/799313856841692)

Rehashing his website and Tumblr:

Paiseh, to save space I quote your text only. Don't mind me asking a few qns, because your boots really quite nicely resole and making me tempted too... :p

  • Price?
  • How long from passing the boots to the shop and collection?
  • Can provide him designs what to resole, if I want different sole from the original?

Thank thanks :D

You can definitely provide him with what you want.. but for me I am only interested in reviving my boots and to restore it to its original look..

Your sole didn't look so bad but insole so terrible? Water and salt? You walk on the beach with your boots or you work overseas on salted snow and ice!

I have had this Beckman for about 4-5 years. On Dec 2014, I went to NZ, while I was there I walked into forest, beach, mountain top with ice etc. Some of the ground of the forest have had sharp gravel, that was when the sole cracked due to the intense stress stepping onto it. One reason I concluded was that the rubber sole had hardened over the years, hence it cracked and some of the rubber sole had dropped off (if you are able to spot it in the photos). But I didn't bother doing anything to it as I thought I could still wear it.

Wearing it in SG, no issues. Mostly I wear it to town or office (on friday).. which is mostly concrete or carpeted floors.

The problem came when I wore this pair to Tokyo in Dec 2015 and it was like raining every other day. I thought it should not have any issues after all as this is a pair of Red Wing you know. :s13: But water seeped in and soaked my socks. That was then I told myself, this is it, I must find a way to repair it. I also suspect the boots could not dry in time as I am wearing it almost everyday in Japan. I have another pair of Nike FlyKnit with me luckily, so I went around with the slightest hope of looking for ppl to repair the Beckman for me. Every store I went told me it requires 3-4weeks. Darn.

where can I get the cream? what brand and type of cream?

for the brushes, what kind of brushes?

Any brand would do. You could get Red Wing's own boot cream, either in neutral or brown for your IR 8111. Other brands you might want to consider would be Collonil and Saphir, available at Master-Fix and Tangs.

As for brushes, suggest that you get them with horsehair bristles. One for brushing off dirt/dust and one for polishing.
