I believe it's just the leather. Like our human skin, there are differences between leathers, thus won't look the same.

As promised from my last post. I have just came back from Taipei. Very good service provided by Lin. He even replaced the heel leather insole for me.

Overall, I am very impressed with the quality and consistency of the stitch work and the finishing. FYI it was hand crafted GYW and not machined GYW.

In summary these are the things he changed for me:
1) Heel Sole
2) Front Sole
3) Mid-leather piece, between the heel and the front sole (additional price as mine was deteriorating badly)
4) Mid-Leather outsole - runs from the front to the back of the boots (i.e. between the soles and the boots)
5) Cork Filling

He even gave me a couple of stickers and a small keychain of Dr Sole's heel sole. Very friendly chap and nice to deal with. Highly recommended.

If you require his service and you are going to Taipei personally, please inform him 1.5-2 mths ahead of time, depending on his order lead time. Otherwise you can always send to him via air mail.

I shall show you some before photos:

He removed the sole and found out that the cork has deteriorated due to constant contact with water and salt.

I wear it for the past 5 years, rode motor sometimes... No issues except the sole wearing out :s13:

Thanks Flaming for that heads up... Sent them a inquiry right after I saw your post. Local RW still haven't appoint their local cobbler for goodyear welt when I last checked with them last week

i using obenauf for all my leather stuffs, you can buy from amazon or locally. their leather oil is easier to apply than LP. you can watch youtube for obenauf review.
for best deal RW go hoot from amazon and use the 3rd party forwarder, just wait patiently the price to drop at amazon, the prices over there can keep going up and down like stock market but take note of the sizes, some of the RW models are 1 full size large than your running shoe, some are true to size.

No lah.. cos my sole cracked.. so water seeped in over time during raining season and hence, the sole has rot.

I'm debating to get timberland boots or a red wing. I suppose price matters the most...
