Initially I was very attracted by the design of Wolverine shoes too, but I read several negative remarks about their workmanship...
I handled them in person in Macy's in the US. Looks and feels cheap in person to me. Wasn't impressed at all.

Red Wing Iron Rangers feel a whole lot more substantial and well made.

The leather doesn't seem tough...
But after googling some reviews on it, apparently the brand is like not bad de leh. I guess brands like Red Wing got more commercially recognised that it exploded becoming a fashion statement, especially its popular in Japan which will kinda impact the Asia indirectly. But actually Timberland and Dr Martens are equally quite popular in Japan also de, but just probably aren't as big on the magazines.

Thorogood is 1 tier lower than RW, but the price also truly reflects that. $80 vs $200 (both discounted prices)

一分钱一分货啦

Wolverine wise I heard of those also, but I think maybe for those seconds quality. But anyway when I received my first one will come back for first impression haha!

Hi guys, anyone has any tip to remove smell from the shoe? It's a smell on the leather on the outside. Also, can the water stains on the shoes be removed? Thanks!

How's the fitting? True to size or did you sizedown?

My sneakers/running shoes = US 9
Red Wing 875 = US 8.5
Wolverine 1000 Mile = US 8
Loake 1880 Capital Last shoes = UK 8

Just copy and paste part of my initial impression from Reddit thread.

  • Toebox - W1K feels just nice at the toebox area, whereas for my 875 needs some break in to get the same feeling.
  • Heel - Both about the same
  • Midsection (Vamp/Tongue) - W1K is really slim/narrow there, it was quite tight (probably due to elevation from cushion insole heel pad), whereas the 875 is snug on first wear.

One last question, your RW875 is a US 8.5D or 8.5E? Thx.

8.5D because Amazon don't have E sizing on sale back then lol! But in the end D seems better, after break in is nice snug fit.

E sizing I tried at local RW shop, right off the bat is comfortable feeling already.
