Apply vaseline at the back part where it touches your skin.

Same thing happen to my Clark's.
I just put it one time and good to go forever.

I understand that the Iron Range 8119 and Iron Ranger 8111 have been used by miners back in the day.

I am wondering if anyone can shed light on these boots
  • Iron Range 8085, 8119
  • Iron Ranger 8111, 2,3
  • Huntsman

.. are suitable for military operations?

not saying to be used in the army.

I was wondering if they are military grade. And also if used in military operations enviroment, will RW boots crumble under pressure?

Red Wings tradition was in work wear, don't recall if they have military footwear. If you are looking for safety boots, they do have separate seuees though. But if you really want military ones, suggest you check out the military brands bah.

I guess its okay ba. I see that the boots are so tough like I am wearing a pair of tanks on my feet. And I wanted to bring it for a rough hike in bukit timah. Looks like its not suitable. And I dont think I wanna buy anymore boots. It'd mean that I will be seperating my attention among them, which there will be some who might likely get neglected and the leather starts to crack.

My Iron Range 8119 didn't wear for a week, and the rims starts to have white cloudy stuff that looks like fungus. High attention and maintenance. Let alone my 875 and 877. :(

One week grow mould is a little extreme. Your shoe cabinet is that humid? There have been periods which I can't wear boots for work more than 6 months also don't have any growth wor. 8165, 875, 8106, all didn't give me any issues other than my bad walking habits thus the sole wearing off... I don't maintain them anyway, only give it a brief brush after every wear. Mink oil or cream only when I notice the leather looks weird, maybe every 6-9 months depending.

Hiking I can't comment though. Maybe let the others feedback bah

My two cents:

You can wear any Red Wings for hiking and trekking but you have to keep in mind their soles are not meant for such activities.

Can try C&J chukka boots in No time to die collection. Good enough for bond, sure good enough for military operations.

Irish settler has a line of hunting boots. Their soles not meant for such activities? What’s the diff between hunting and hiking and trekking?

Thanks for the advice. I also hope to get a pair of Irish Settlers, I think it is a subset of RedWings. But then again, if I were to diverse my attention, the current Iron Range 8119 which I have will start turning cranky with white stuff at the round tip to get my attention. :(

I meant the Heritage series actually i.e. Moc, Chukka, Iron Ranger. These work boots come with either crepe or oil-resistant soles, neither of which are suitable for hiking/trekking.

dont think I was replying to u. like u said one can wear anything, cavemen hike with no shoes :)

hiking like walking on flat grounds no issue since it can be use on ranch. especially if our image is hiking like what we see locally.

if we thinking such treks, then not suitable.

Red Wing Shoe Company is named after the small Minnesota town where it manufactures a range of rugged boots and shoes. Founded in 1905 by Charles Beckman — and still privately held and family-operated today — the brand grew quickly, supplying doughboys with boots designed for the muddy trenches of WWI. After the war, Red Wing became a household name across the country thanks to its safe and hearty boots made for factory workers, farmers and outdoorsmen.

Sturdy, classic and well-loved by generations, the boots and shoes are still handmade in Red Wing’s Minnesota plant. While mainline Red Wing continues to supply construction workers and outdoorsmen, Red Wing Heritage, introduced in 2008, revives styles from the brand’s archive. Based on classic models, the styles prioritize work-ready function. “The foundation is built upon making quality footwear for people to wear on the job,” says Steve Spencer, Managing Director of Red Wing Heritage.

The brand’s boots are the gold standard for men’s footwear and are stocked at men’s clothing shops the world over. Made to the same exacting standards as their work boots, Red Wing Heritage styles have a wide appeal and are just as appropriate on the ranch or factory floor as they are in the office or at home. This guide will help you navigate classic styles from the Red Wing Heritage catalog, but before you dive in, take a minute to familiarize yourself with important boot terminology.

Hi friends,

Happy weekend.

Do any of you know where to get RW Leather Cream?

https://www.redwingshoes.com/accessories/care-products/Leather-Cream-97095.html

Dropped by their outlet at Somerset hut they would not be restocking the product at least till May.

Thanks in advance.
