i have been using obenauf leather oil and LP on my GTs. so far, the color looks very much the same. the darkening of the leather on my boots is mainly due to dirt and denim bleeding. The oil and LP didnt seem to darken much. Even if there is, it's only like 2-5% darker than before application

I believe it also depends on the colour of your boots.. If its already a dark or black colour, the colour difference will definitely not be that distinct before and after oiling isnt it?

Hey mikeyy ive seen your gt on your blog before.. Very nice and informative blog.. Am confused abt the lp and leather oil on the gt as the care and restoration on the rw official website doesnt mention the use of such lp and oil as i believe that featherstone leather are not meant to be treated like this....

thanks for reading my blog. :)

well the one simple reason Red Wing didn't mention Obenauf's is they are competitors in the leather oil industry. Red wing has got their own mink oil to promote.

And yup, featherstone dont need to be treated too much or too early with leather care. I had emailed RW before on the proper maintenance. They told me featherstone leather comes pre-treated and its all good to go. in the event that something really needs to be done, they recommend their shoe creme or something. But i rather play safe with what the most internet community recommend and gotten good reviews like the Obenaufs
