Hi all i have had my Redwings 875 for 2 months already,i oiled them with Obenauf Lp from day 1 and after one month later, oiled again.

After wearing 10 times only got so many surface scratches that even a slight swipe of my finger nail on the shoe can cause. Is there anyway to even out these "scratches" and make them not visible?

And how do i remove the black stains on the white sole also?these things makes the shoe look very ugly.Help would be much appreciated(Picture below)

Dude, its perfectly alright.

Try this: use your fingernail to scratch your arm or leg. Is there a mark? There you have it, its your real skin. So does leather is a skin of an animal. If you want "scratchless" material, synthetic leather will be less likely to be scuffed by fingernails. ;)

Regarding the soles, its meant to be stepped on the floor and floors are dirty. Unless you wear them in a sanitised environment like a lab, you can hardly maintain its white looks.

Just wear it and not worry about the scuffs here and there. :)

oil once a month is indeed too much. and i hope the brush you are holding in the pic is not the "horse hair brush" you were talking about.

nice work with the crepe soles. what did you do with it?

Hi bros, I read a lot of informative replies on this thread and I thought I'd ask about my little dilemma on here.

I tried on the 875 in the store hopIng to buy them online.
I was put on the measuring device and the girl told me my size was a 9.5D and it was up to me to either take 9.5D or 9.5E.

I tried both a 9.5D and a 9.5E.

The 9.5D, when lacing up, felt very tight and constricted. But when I stood uP and walked around it was ok, a little snug and fitting but still manageable.

The 9.5E, was nice and comfy, roomy etc.

I was wearing thick socks, the kind i knew I would be wearing with red wings.

Now I need some advice. I know the 9.5D is now fitting very snug but I also know these shoes will or may stretch out after wearing a few times and being seasoned. If that happens 9.5D would fit just right, isn't it ? On the other hand I am also concerned that the 9.5E will be too loose after stretching out after being seasoned.

And how does the width affect the way the shoes look ? Would the E width make the shoe too bulky?

Need your advice opinion etc

Thanks

Take the 9.5D , though you'll suffer a bit in the first phase of wearing , after awhile , it'll be fine . Personally , I think width affect the way it looks .
