You been to ns le? It's known among nsmen that kiwi will crack up the leather. I haven't heard anyone used kiwi on their RW before, so I wish you all the best...

I am wearing a 8165. But when u are mentioning kiwi, do you mean those which use for saf no.4 boots???
Pls don't ya... It will "kill" the leather...

For me, I have only been using the cheapo mink oil easily available at bata for less than $10. Start wearing it first for a few mths, no need care abt the oiling part coz usually the shoes itself should have been coated liaoz. Then along the way as u notice the leather starting to be a little creasing le (usually 5-6mths), u can slap a layer of those oil and massage in with your fingers. I read that its better to use fingers to rub in than use cloth coz of the heat. Go into every corners, and then let it dry naturally.

Thumb of rule, don't be too nice to your RW. Trash it well, and it will return beautifully. :)

one more thing bro, can I ask so if u apply the oil will the white sitches on 8165 turn colour or it will still remain the same white?:s11:

Not sure if it is the right way, but I rem I was told to oil every single corner and thread. And I did.
Back to "rule of thumb", trash it. RW really don't look nice if its too clean and crease-less. Don't mind abt the scratches, creases or stains. It will add to the character of your boots. If you try too hard to maintain it at mint condition, IMO it looks funny...

Applied Obenauf's to my RW after 3-4 months of usage. The leather darken slightly but lightened with more usage.

Before

After Obenauf's

My ankle feel a bit sore after starting wearing 1st day today..

It is most likely because the leather is still too new. This is why you have to really trash your boots well. If you take too much care making it stay mint, it will take forever to break in de...

And I thought I am the only advocate here that the saf green socks is the best match for these boots... :p
Sadly some will prefer branded socks to match with their branded footwear. But I feel whats important is the comfort and functionality. Seasoned RW wearers will know the boots are a b!tch to wear seasoning them before they are the most comfortable footwear one needs.

Me no chance buy army socks haha. Still schooling

Dude, head down to Beach Road and you can find an array of army socks there.
A good alternative to the saf socks will be the scdf black socks.
As awesome.
Cheap cheap good good.
