Just go back and show them the boots and see what they say? If they do allow to change, then faster change. If not you will regret it next time.

My 875 serve me well for 4 years and counting. Now I'm using 8111 for daily use. 875 is more for travelling or going hiking surfaces.

well brought it back to the shop. Manager didnt allow for an exchange. Guess i got to deal with it.. hopefully it gets better with age. Just looks really weird to me.

Probably because that creasing is normal...lol.

@justmybass boots will crease like that one la, esp for lower ankle cuts. Not much support for that area which sees alot of and "freer" rotational movement from the ankle joint compared to a high cut, which actually limits your ankle's range of movement and thus creases.

If you go google for how red wing ages, you'll also see similar creasing so dw imo.

Its not that i dont like creasing. i actually like when it creases.

Just that the creasing on mine looks abit extreme and exaggerated for a few days of wear. And i've read that loose grain on leather boots can lead to other problems in the long run.

It's leather boots and one walk on floor, with redwing if one goes into the forest to hunt only to return complaining this and that is like the paint on my car chip within 10000 km of driving, please repaint my full car

If i had been hunting or doing something rigorous then maybe i wouldnt be so surprised. But it was from normal casual use.

Uhh he said that although its loose grain it isn't severe enough to warrant an exchange. Lesson learnt i guess. Cause aparently there are ways u can tell if there is loose grain in the leather. Just check carefully before you buy i guess.

i already own a 1907 so not looking to buy another one.

your boots look great so u dont have to worry. honestly even if the other boot had zero creases i personally would not worry

Only wear occasionally for overseas trips

Both are very nice handmade shoes but somehow I'm still yearning for a red wing after reading all about it recently and trying on a pair. It just feels more rugged and can take more nonsense than my current ones.
Makes sense to spend another few hundreds on a 875/1907/2904? No harm to get them for rotation but I'm just concerned if it's too much of the same thing.

Gotta understand that RW are not terribly pricey in their country of origin and thus more parts of the hides are used, including the inferior shoulder and belly. Loose grain may be inferior but its still quality top-grain leather (relatively).

So you can prolly see why there is such a huge variance in quality between individual pairs.

In comparison high end makers like C&J only make max 2-3 pairs from one side of hide. Work boot vs Dress shoe/boot.

it only makes sense if u buy it from USA where its cheaper

if u have too many boots, u get to wear each of them lesser delaying the aging of the leather

well C&J priced GBP$300+ to GBP$500! thats like 2X the price of redwing.
redwing at The Rack goes for US$100-200, at factory store US$99-120 vs here over sgd$400 (usd$300). the numbers will tell us the obvious.

redwing alot of marketing, buy Thorogood or Chippewa and prices are lower and quality compariable.

smaller new companies on other hand QC is not as good. poor stitching is ok etc..

damn smooth like the Horween Cordovan on my wrist! but those shoes cost US$700 to USD$1200! around 2.5X or more than our regular redwing.

cheaper factory seconds from AE chukka or shoes cost US$399.
