For $600, I would get this ... Natural Horween® Chromexcel® leather ... drooling over it for very long already ...

this looks nice.. kinda gave up on getting a pair of alden indy...
considering this or wolverine 1000
I brush it every weekend. Apply LP every 6 months or so +-
i'm using obenauf lp and it darken it a little. So i cannot comment on this.
For raw jeans,
wash your raw jeans 10 times
or
fold your long socks onto the boots to cover the portion where your jeans touch the boots.
Personally, a little stain here and there adds that special touch to it.
Yes, in my case
it revert back to how it was after 2 - 3 weeks.
take note mine was already darken. i'm not talking about color reverting back to brand new state.
For brand new, your very first time applying will definitely darken it a little.
As for which conditioner to use...
If you do a search, there are 2 camps
1 who support Mink oil
1 who support Obeanuf
I came to a conclusion to use Obeanuf LP because i refuse to use anything that comes from mink (some coy claims they obtain it as a by-product from the fur industry)
And yeah, obeanuf is all in one. for the lazy people

Learning so much from you
I think I will use the obeanuf LP then since it's so convenient. I don't even need to purchase conditioner and leather protector separately. My guess is to use damp warm towel to wipe and brush to brush it clean then when dry apply the obeanuf LP and let dry until ready to wear?
When should be my first use of the obeanuf LP? I really don't want it to get dark but I guess if it preserves the lifespan of the boots, I'll do it. But I'll also check with the salesman at the store to find out more info from him and if it's possible to preserve the color of 875.
Thank you!
Edit: Oh and where can I get obeanuf LP in Singapore? Lazy to do shipping and online stuff..
If it's convenience you're looking for why not just purchase the care products from Red Wing's store. Obeanuf LP is really strong stuff designed for firemen. You might not need so strong protection. There are plenty of mixed reactions to using Obenauf LP for shoes used for everyday wear.
Brush and use a shoecream. That should be enough for low fuss maintenance.
Hi darthsid11111,
Thank you for your reply... yeah I've went online and searched it and it really darkens the entire leather so I think it might be a tad too strong for everyday use.
What type of shoe cream from red wings would I be looking for then?
I've come across other brands such as lexol and dr martens wonder balsam to care for leather without darkening them. Anyone has any idea if it's suitable for 875?
Really sorry to hijack this thread.. but im heading to taiwan soon... not so soon lol..
I'm not sure should I get a pair of Alden indy there. Or just get a pair of oak street bootmakers trench boot now... Anyone know how's the quality for both pair of boots?
Can't speak for Oak Street Bootmakers.
But can vouch for Alden Indy construction quality. Picked mine up from https://zh-tw.facebook.com/essentialelements. But have to warn you though, their stocks are limited and may not have the size you require.
