I got 2 pair, the 1907 and 8111... 9011 maybe after one of them give way...

somehow they are very lasting n strong... have been wearing my 1907 everyday for 1 year, still going strong... beware wearing with raw denim, confirm bleed onto your leather, but some like it as it gives character...

as advises by one of the uncle at red wing orchard not to oil 1907 as it will take away the unique character of the rough n tough leather... usually just brush it with the sedeue brush to brush up the leather then leather protector for water proofing and you are good to go...

I went to a shukey outlet to enquire on red wing sole replacement. They mentioned they are not using original redwing soles anymore but using vibram soles. They also said redwing stopped manufacturing their own soles and are using vibram soles. Is this true?

no they dont hard sell but i find that their attitude change towards u when u end up not buying. they dont get aggressive or anything but i can tell they become a bit buay song as though they expect u to buy after servicing u. if your intention is to try on sizes then buy online, my advise is go other places. yes, orchard gateway has very good service. they measure your feet using the brannock scale then bring out a few sizes and make the effort to lace up for u to try. they also share their experience on how to take care of the leather, what to expect when u are breaking into the boot etc.. but ultimately its just a shoe and for me all this "extra" stuff is not a requirement for me.

Lets be fair and think in their position. If u are spending the time and efforts with a customer whom walked in with no intention to buy from the shop, how would you feel and behave?

Of course there is no right or wrong in this, but its more of the thoughts for others.

Lol. If you don't need such services you wouldn't even have dropped by the store. What a tool. You think the local retailer spend money to run a shop just to entertain free loaders meh.

It's a business not a charity.

i suppose u are referring to me. the tool.

you're right its not a charity. welcome to the age of e-commerce. cheaper alternatives are all online.

why am i even explaining myself to u when u dont even care and immediately set off and call people names?

i'll tell u how i would feel and behave as a person in the service industry. nothing.

cos i do not know if the customer is going to run off to a cheaper source to buy, or he just wants to take some time off and think whether its worth it to purchase an expensive shoe. and to a lot of people, that pair of shiny red wings in the store front can be expensive. but there's no law that says even if the person cant afford he should be denied the same level of service as everyone

if u just say looking around i guess its fine. its only when u try on then when u say u will think about it first, their faces change

i believe peninsula plaza, left foot outlets and the denim store carry red wings

Yes there is no law in this case, are you a business owner?
There is no law they should provide you equal service too

I no $$ sit taxi, sat on taxi and later jump ship? This there is a law on that.

I cannot afford business class air ticket but I expect business class service? Some business they can weed ppl who is light in the wallet. No need laws.

Even in Japan at supermarket where they dish out free samples. When freq free loaders drop in they all hide their samples. A service oriented country denying service to those ppl

Now I can agree why Singapore's retail customer service can probably never catch up with the Japan or Taiwan...

My first pair is a 8165 from Feder Sports years ago. They probably didn't have much customer service nor expertise on the boots, but I took it on my own. My second is a 875 which I bought when I was on holidays in Hong Kong.

I am not pointing fingers or what, but I feel obliged to pay what is provided and not whats the cheapest. Maybe I am more old school which often I will pay quietly though feeling "cheated", but that's because I believe in human to human retail service.

Eventually its just a pair of footwear, whats important is owner wears and enjoys it. :)

Yup. So why even bother visiting the store? If your goal is to just use their FOC services and shop online but complain that you are not treated like a valued customer then yes, you are a tool. The staff has probably encountered countless other people who are like that, which is what has made them cynics.

If you're going to their shop and have already determined that you won't be spending money there no matter what, then you're not a valued customer and shouldn't be complaining online when you're not treated like one.
