As your boy gets older you'll understand the sleep pattern. Try to take magnesium every day. I'm taking about 900mg daily split into 3 (3 x 300). You can try around the same. Zinc as well. Also consider Sleep Aid from True Nutrition it has GABA and Melatonin which is good for sleep as well. I use a cap on weekends as well for an afternoon nap.

Weight loss slow down could be due to many things - food, exercise, sleep, routine, etc. Change your food choice, pick different exercises or rep ranges, sleep longer, just experiment.

im going to keep the magnesium and zinc tip in mind bro. sleep aid sounds promising. i will try to order it asap. right now im still coping with 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. this week im going to tweak my schedule a little and see if i can get more sleep.

im still not sure why my weight loss has stopped, so im going to record and list everything down. hopefully the reason becomes clearer so that i can do something about it.

how are you coping with your baby?

today i worked my back. pretty good workout. it feels a little strange carrying a pen and notebook around in my pocket, and i keep worrying that the tip would poke my nuts. eventually i just place them on a window ledge.

before i left for the gym, i downed a scoop of whey with bcaa, creatine and 2 teaspoons of milo.

i started with 6 sets of 6 pull ups - 2 open, 2 close, and 2 chin ups.

moved on next to lat pull down - 56kg 10 reps, 70 kg 8 reps, 83 kg 8 reps, 90kg 6 reps 7 reps 6 reps.

next was back extensions. 4 sets of 10 reps

the seated row was under repair, so i went back to pull ups 4 sets of 4 reps (kinda tired by then)

i was done, so i drank another scoop of whey, bcaa, creatine and milo.

i walked over to the pool and swam 6 rounds as usual. swimming really helps recovery in my opinion.

lunch - salmon, mixed vege, soup, and 2 eggs cooked with the leftover salmon oil in the pan.

Just pimpin, but you can buy supplements from iherb.com, they have free international shipping till end of the month, and you can get $5-10 off your first order using the coupon code in my signature or anyone else's coupon code, depending on who you like *wink wink*.

They have GABA/melatonin there as well.

I just noticed yr bowl of mixed vegs & it has corn in it. Corn is generically modified so pl stay away fr it. Yr best bet are fresh vegs..eg cucumbers, tomatoes lettuce etc...

thanks for the explanation bro! i googled it up last night after work as well. i read that leg presses are safer if we limit the range of movement so that the lower back doesnt round. like you said, i think its too risky for me, so im just going to stick to high reps low weight squats for now. good thing i found out from you guys

Also if u hv to use the leg press, don't go more than 45 deg: yr knees should be relatively safe at that angle...

wah! you even thought of that. thats really quite true. i was just discussing with my wife during lunch that we should try raw veg salad again. we used to eat them daily, but ever since our kid arrived we stopped. it was too troublesome as dealing with the baby was tough enough. now he is 5 months old, so we have more time on our hands. i will update here once we do change!

Actually I wouldn't worry too much about corn unless you're eating it as a staple. Otherwise, like soy, there's no need to avoid it totally.

Wow, 5 months old and you have more time already? Your baby is damn guai hor?

I eat corn quite often...maybe 2 or 3 times a week:(

My kid is quite ok. He sleeps from 8pm to 7am most nights. Recently though he keeps waking up at 5 plus and starts playing by himself. Just laughing and babbling. Last night was a tough one for me.

Ok! Just reached home. My new plan was that I should be sleeping right now. I'll just quickly update.

Triceps today. Kinda lousy workout. My baby woke me up very early so i was tired. I have figured out a new schedule for myself which matches his sleep pattern better. Hopefully this won't happen so often.
I will post the exact weight I lift including the bar.

Close grip bench
60kg 10 reps 10 reps
100kg 8 reps
120kg 6 reps
60kg 10 reps

Tricep pull down
11kg 10 reps alt arm
34kg 8 reps
47kg 6 reps 6 reps

Tricep pull down (behind neck...I dont know the name of this exercise)
29kg 6 reps
38kg 6 reps 6 reps

Standing triceps extension at power rack
50kg 10 reps
60kg 8 reps 6 reps

By then I was exhausted. I didnt even do a single dip or swim. I went home, ate my lunch and took a quick nap before going to work.

I didn't exercise today. Sick again. This is the second or third time I've been ill since my kid came out. I usually have the constitution of a bull. I already downed a lot of vit c in the afternoon but now still feels like I'm in a dream.

When u train hard but don't have enough sleep, yr immunity goes down. I learned that the hard way when my daughter was born 21 yrs ago. My advice would be to lay off & get well. After that, cut down yr training to 4 days a week max; yr family & health is much more important.

Bro I know you're right. I have this feeling that I should cut down on exercising and catch up on sleep. I think I can last maybe another 6 months on my current routine. The way I look at it right now is that I must try and lose as much weight as I can while my kid is still small. When he is older and demands more of my time, or when I have another baby I will have no choice but to cut down on exercise. I think as long as I can figure out a way to get more sleep and to keep myself free from injuries I can handle my current load. I'm most likely going to stick with this routine at least for the next few months, although if I feel something is wrong I will definitely relax more. Losing weight is a priority for now

Quick update! I didn't exercise at all since Friday. Guai guai stay at home and sleep as much as I can over the weekend. I woke up this morning feeling fine, although I still have the sniffles. After a short debate with myself, I decided to stay home and rest. I need to get well ASAP.

alright! after one week of inaction, i finally exercised today.

my sniffles are gone, and i feel almost 100% if not for the fact that my throat is still a little dry.

i cycled to tpy gym despite the rain, and then when i reached, i realised that my membership expired yesterday. i didnt bring any money with me, so in the end i made my way home. along the way, i decided to get a membership at dennis, instead of clubfit. time for an upgrade baby! so i grabbed my wallet and cycled there.

TADAAA!

got a gift as well

$486 for 12 months. im going to make it worth my while.

as i lazed around the past week, i came up with a new schedule. ill update here when i have more time.

today i did my chest. after recovering from flu, i took things relatively easy.

bench 60kg 10 reps 2 sets, 100kg 6 reps 3 sets
dumb bell presses (been a looooong time!) 40kg 6 reps 4 sets
dips with 25kg dumb bell 6 reps 3 sets
leg lifts 6 reps 4 sets

then i slowly cycled home. all in all a good workout even though i definitely lost some strength.

lunch

May I know how is the crowd there like? And is there a squat rack and enough barbells to go around?

Thanks

I have only been there only twice. I can't say for sure. Both times the gym was quite deserted. I basically could do any exercise with no wait or sharing.

Dumb bells go up to 40kg. They are new, with good grips. A bit too bulky if I really have to point out a flaw. The heavier weights only have one pair of each but chances are they are all yours.

There is one power rack. However there are no benches, so I bench there. If the gym gets crowded, it'll be a long wait. I can imagine people crowding around it doing dl and ohp and bench and squats.

I usually reach at 9.30am. Come say hi if you're there!
