If the lack of B7 really not a problem, I'll probably sell off my racing since couldn't get device certified, and then switch plan to one of the MVNO under singtel network.

What are some of the main apps affected due to not being certified? I know Netflix is one that will not be able to install from Play Store, other than that most apps are fine? Or not? Foodpanda?

Will there continuously be notifications saying the phone not being certified?

eh...k30 racing uses a different processor, unlikely to be same rom as normal k30. dont anyhow flash, later brick.

Very good questions. Well, I called up UPS 2 times today and spoke with different agents and both times I was told they are not sure "because it is handled by the back-end brokerage dept who will contact me in 24 biz hours" and will let me know the next step....

My hunch is, if we go through UPS to apply for gst refund, there might still be a small chance of recovering that unfair $15 charges. But for sure if we pursue refund directly with Customs, we'll only get back the gst amount.

One thought came to mind, since we are quite many of us who legitimately paid way below $400 but yet charged with gst and admin fee, we can group together and make our voices heard, in the event this is not resolve to our satisfaction (i.e. refund of both gst and admin fee). For example, expose such unfair biz practice in social media, etc.

Haha my mipad4 is running lineage and certified too, via running magisk hide patch to pass safetynet. But then again for tablet it doesn't really make any difference whether certified or not, since I primarily use it for gaming/entertainment and don't need it to pass safetynet for payment/financial related activities.

Google Play Certification is Google’s way of ensuring that devices running with Google Play Services are in a known-good state. This is implemented via checking of SafetyNet. While SafetyNet consists of these APIs:

• SafetyNet Attestation API – Profiles the device the app is attempting to run on, compares it to known device profiles, and identifies whether the profiled device may be rooted/modified or potentially compromised. With the API implemented, a mobile banking app can shut down if it’s running on a non-standard phone and protect a user against malware that might abuse root access.

The verifyapps, safebrowsing and recapture APIs are immaterial to the issue at hand. The bigger problem lies with the Attestation API. App developers can choose to enable a toggle in the app developer console to hide their app on the Play Store if a device doesn’t pass SafetyNet tests (for example making netflix hidden), or can choose to check the SafetyNet status of a device to disable certain functionality (for example google pay cannot add cards or bank apps to shut down, etc).

And yes there are notifications but not frequent to the extend of driving one crazy. lol...

Isn't it the case where JD uses jtexpress before covid19 hit, before **, before china lockdown. And now JD only uses UPS for overseas shipments? If so, it is no surprise la.

jt is last mile..... be it courier ABCD... the gst is chargeable based on the person declared value..... the person can be the seller or the person that arranged the international shipping.

seller don't have the responsibility for under-declare.
However, the person who arranged the shipping must declare correctly due to company to company agreement. Sometimes, they can declare in 1 value without filling freight & insurance box or before coupon....... this is why sometimes buy $3xx need to pay gst.

Managed to install miui 12 stable, switched from miui12 beta.
Google pay seemed more sensitive compared to singtel dash, ie can detect further, faster.

nope...we got it from UPS unless that's because they want us to pay GST.
And maybe JT doesn't have the documentation to do so
