I'm looking at getting 8g ram + 128mb note 8 pro, global set. Was browsing various website and noticed that seems like global set doesn't come with 8g ram, most seller only has 6g ram 128mb.

Until I found this seller saying that he has a 8g Ram and it's global rom.
https://www.lazada.sg/products/xiao...-6128-8128-sealed-i392808266-s940950820.html?

Wondering if anyone knows that the market already has 8g ram global rom set already? Afraid getting from this seller and end up is CN rom and modified/flashed (whatever that's called).

high chance this is china set flashed with modified rom. global rom is out for note 8 pro, but global mi site says highest config officially available for sale is 6/128. but unless you go europe frequently, there shouldn't be any issue with using global rom on china set, since china set is fully compatible with local 4g bands.

Thanks for your reply!

Is there other cons on using global rom on china set? Read somewhere that some payment method cannot be used? Wish to understand more to gauge if I should wait for global set or just get current china set+global rom.

Appreciate it.

Oh, and would you think if they will launch the 8/128 global set at all? If they do, when would you think it will approx be launched?

Weighing if I should wait for 8g ram... :s11:

ya the payment issue will be present on china sets flashed with global rom. this primarily affects those looking to use google pay with nfc, which this device has. the reason why google pay won't work without extra modification is because in order to flash global rom on china set, the bootloader of the phone needs to be unlocked, which immediately makes the phone "unsecure" by google's standards. other banking apps may also stop working, but I haven't really ran into any problems myself. it is still possible to circumvent it by flashing magisk, but means you will have to do a little bit of extra work, and I'm unsure if there are any custom recoveries available for the n8p. but if you don't use gpay, snapchat or play pokemon go it's not something to worry about.
apart from that, china set with global rom will work exactly as if you bought a global set.
personally I don't see the point of spending more on ram, since 6gb is enough for sd845 phones and will definitely be enough for the g90t, which is slightly weaker in comparison. if you buy a higher storage that comes with more ram then bopian, but if you buy simply more ram, then honestly no point. so I will recommend you buy the global 6/128, since more things will just work.
I don't really remember when xiaomi launched a phone with a few lower options then launched the higher options later, not in their global markets anyway. so I am not optimistic that 8gb will launch globally, as xiaomi generally restricts the best models to china only.

These are really helpful! Pretty much decided I'll go ahead with 6/128 global set str8 away.

Thanks again!

I'm using TPG on both Sim 1 and 2 with no issues for data, calls and sms. roaming in Malaysia works well too.

Agree to the wall of text with no paragraph, get the global version because there won't be problems with all the Google apps and security/payment stuff.

6gb is plenty, 4gb was pushing it.

Hi guys if I were to buy China rom redmi note 8, should I get the shop to help install Google play? And China rom got english as language option as I'm not sure if the set can work out of the box.

not worth asking shop to install because it's too easy to install on your own.. there's english language option out of the box.
