Not much difference between the two, except the screen size of Note 9 is slightly bigger. I personally like the feel of Note 8, fits snuggly in my hand. But wait for the sale, I got one for my wife for $125 during 12.12 including $15 ICBC card discount.

Carousell is now flooded with xiaomi phones. Many of the Redmi Note 8 sale are now on carousell all selling new sets for 155 to 180. Also plenty off people are selling off their used xiaomi sets. I think the resale value of the low end xiaomi phones is going to plummet.

It could be due to multiple delayed in releasing Andriod 10 and Miui 12 for Redmi note 8.

Wait for the sale, the prices drop a lot. I made the mistake of buying export set redmi 10x for $195 on singles day, thinking that would be the cheapest, then 12.12 sale redmi note 8 price drop to 139, before voucher. I had to make use of the sale so end up, force my wife to upgrade to the new RN8 and now I am trying to sell her Mi A1 on carousel, lol.

My note 8 is on Miui 11 "Miui Global 11.0.12 Stable 11.0.12.0 (PCOMIXM)"
and security patch is on Nov 2020.

Running on Android 9.

Still waiting for the miui12 update.

They messed up the MIUI 12 update for Note 8 big time. Initially 11.0.11 did not push out to all devices OTA for some reasons, so many sideload it. Then came 12.0.1, devices on 11.0.11 cannot update it, following numerous complaints, they push out 12.0.2 for those on 11.0.11 to update but the build never made it out of beta so means users without beta privileges cannot sideload it. Out of nowhere 11.0.12 on November patch got push out OTA for those 11.0.11 but in the end still cannot update to 12.0.2 because it is on older October security patch. Ever since then no news on MIUI 12 update liao.

Hi all, just wanted to ask are there many concerns with stock MIUI pertaining to security, battery life, privacy etc when running on fully stock MIUI? Or is it really better to debloat the phone using a debloat tool? Eg there are some forums that claim debloat certain apps like mi cloud will avoid the phone "phoning home" and also increase battery life. Many thanks.

Not the first time Xiaomi messed up these upgrade.
The brand become less attritive now a day.
