Rather minor difference between PRO and PRO MAX.

PRO MAX with 64MP f1.9 1/1.72" wide cam and 32MP selfie cam with 33W fast charging

PRO version just 48MP f1.8 1/2.25" wide cam and 16MP selfie cam with standard 18W fast charging.

Everything remain the same?

Yes, the rear/front camera and charging speed are the two main differentiator.

The other differentiators includes the 2x2 MIMO and Z-axis linear haptic vibration motor on Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Rather they call the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max asRedmi Note 9 Pro+ instead, since Max usually refers to bigger version instead. (cues Mi Max
:s13:
)

But I guess they want to tap on the marketing of Apple to generate some news.
:s22:

I find it hilarious that they claim the new Note 9 Pro Max has a "larger" display than the old Mi Max 1/2 at 6.44 inches. Mi Max 3 had a 6.9 inch display in the similar tall aspect ratio, did they miss that out? Clearly they are trying very hard to justify the Max name. :s13:

Who knows we may see a different naming scheme for global versions of the device or possibly a different Note 9 lineup entirely (with a standard Note 9 in the mix). Only time will tell.

sianz....i thought max is bigger screen to replace my mi max 3
:(

Agreed, I thought they resurrecting the Max line within the Redmi brand which makes sense since all the Mi Max models are essentially just bigger Redmi Note models. :(

I also LOL-ed when I see the replay of the launch event, they are just blatantly copying Apple naming scheme but they are trying hard to justify by pulling in the Mi Max 1/2 that has a screen with 16:9 display ratio. Comparing apples with oranges in this case. :s22::s13:

Maybe another Redmi Note 5 will be happening again. :o

Thanks. Didn't know there's further differences.

Indian models of Redmi models usually have no NFC. Redmi Note 8 Pro, K20, K20 Pro and Poco X2 all have NFC removed when the equivalent Chinese version has them.

I realised overseas countries like India don't really use NFC like paywave for CC payment in-stores

I believe so too. They haven't really learn from the past confusing naming schemes. Mi 9T and Redmi K20, Poco X2 and Redmi K30.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro is offered in Aurora Blue, Glacier White and Interstellar Black colors, and it comes in two memory versions - 4GB/64GB priced at INR12,999 ($175/€155) and 6GB/128GB that costs INR15,999 ($215/€190).

Redmi Note 8 Pro release price
Rs 14,999 6GB+64GB
Rs 15,999 6GB+128GB

so cheap:(

With these type of RN9P pricing, meaning RN8 and RN8P prices will come down a pretty fair bit.

Is this a better buy as compared to the Redmi Note 8 Pro?
That depends on how much gap in price between incumbent and incoming note 9.

Slightly bigger screen, snapdragon, dedicated MicroSD slot, larger battery capacity.

Does the global set has dedicated slot? If has NFC, 9 should be better:(

That's what was posted. But not sure local units get it or not.

Hard to say cause Indian Redmi Note 8 Pro don't have NFC but got dedicated microSD. Seems like the case for this Note 9 Pro, just wonder how the global Note 9 Pro will be.
