You use the charger that came with it? 28mins doesn't sound right cos i think the phone takes 2.5hrs to go from 0-100%? And the initial charge is always a lot faster then the speed drop every 25% i think? The last bit shouldn't be so fast.

If you run your fingernail along the groove, it should get stuck once it hit the power button right?
Yup..I used the charger that came with it. I'll monitor the charging time again maybe tomorrow.

Nope. My fingernail won't get stuck as the button sit perfectly inside the groove.

IIRC the last time I tried the fingerprint reader, it works just as I expected. Prefer it to be at the back but side is acceptable.
Do note that you can register multiple fingerprints and not just your thumb.
I prefer face unlock myself.

if on the back, you have to lift up the phone to scan.

if on the side, you can leave the phone on table and scan, or hold on hand.

Oh dang but it works without issue right? You try to youtube videos and see if those are the same as yours. If it's really QC problem then i think you should quickly settle it.

Nope..my button is not like your photo. Yours is slightly protruding. Mine is flushed with the groove. I've put up refund request and will return the phone. Hope they acknowledge the defects and refund me.

Oh wow ok then i think it's QC. Update the progress here please, really like to know how does the warranty work. If they refund you in cash, will you re-purchase another?

I would like to purchase another set but don't think I can get back same price @ $329. So might get 9s..cheaper and if get lemon set again won't be so heart pain.

Sure will update the refund progress here.

Tks for helping me confirm that my hp got prob.

That's true but you'll be losing out on the NFC. If i have a choice i wouldn't have gotten the 9S but the 9 Pro

Though i've also just got the Poco F2 Pro to compensate for the lack of NFC, then i found out it doesn't have MicroSD lolol

I am glad to selected the 9 Pro over 9S. Never used NFC and now I find it so convenient. Worth it to go for 9pro.

I would strongly suggest you to get a 9pro. :o It is only few tenth dollars cheaper but the possibilities are much more with a 9pro for next few years especially with the NFC feature. :o

Also a slight camera upgrade. I don't use NFC that much before but with the 9S missing it, i feel handicapped like a big part of the phone feature missing. I intend to use it more for payment from now on but ultimately, still prefer having a smartwatch to use as a payment device cos it's just much easier.

I am using Gpay for my 9pro now. :o I wasn't prepare to use however since I got myself the phone might as well use the NFC. :o Since then I never look back. :o It is a good feature. :o Camera wise is better and there is fast charge (30W) for 9pro. :o Overall 9pro is a better buy than 9s if we measure the utilization against the time. :o

Bros and sis who are on the 9Pro, do you have any tips on using NFC for payment? I'm new to NFC payment/Google Pay etc, so I don't know what to look out for like whether shop or vendor accept Gpay/NFC and what to ask so they know if can accept payment this way?

Also, I know can use phone NFC to tap in/out of public transport, but is it through Gpay, and can link bank acc instead of card to the app?

Paiseh if this is off-topic

I would have gone for the 9 Pro but back then i kinda needed a newer phone with newer Android version for whatever reasons so i got the 9S cos there was no news of the 9 Pro at all. But now i know how Xiaomi work, i'll wait till the price drop to a reasonable amount and get the better phone.

The Poco F2 Pro was kind of an "impulse buy" cos the price drop was really a lot for a SD 865 phone.

As long the shop or restaurants using paywave that big reader, you can simply tap your phone NFC. :o Usually those reader is to read credit card and debit card paywave feature. :o

Yes, using gpay to pay your public transportation.:o It is link to your credit card account, as well as your paynow account if you using gpay. :o

You need referral for gpay? :o Use it >10dollar before 31st August you will get 3 dollar rebate and I be getting referral fees too. :o

9pro not really cheap but I would strongly recommending those who are by the sideline to seriously consider 9pro over 9s. :o It is only a few tenth dollars difference but that potentially change your user experience overall. :o

Most current visa/mastercard terminals already accept contactless payments. Or to be sure, just lookout for the paywave logo

KNrpqiGl.jpg

Simply say paywave (or if the cashier dunno just say visa), unlock your phone and tap it like a card into the terminal

Infact I think even the SGQR netts terminal at hawkers/coffeeshops accept paywave too. But it's more troublesome as the vendor/cashier need know how to input the amount to be charged before one tap for payment (as compared to QR where customer input the amount instead)

Nets is getting reductant. Their nfc netspay still need to install their own app I think

As mentioned in earlier posts, NFC can be used for UOB ATM withdrawals too, aside from transportation. Am hoping to explore/see more of NFC functions applicable for daily lives (eg. doorlock, digital home automation etc) as it's such a huge convenience once one started using it.

I think doorlock best don't use NFC lolol. So many things can go wrong i feel. Just get one with PIN or fingerprint enough. About 10 years back i buy those NFC tags, stick to them the wall and configure them to write the SSID to a new mobile phone when you just tab on it so i don't have to keep keying in the SSID and password for a new phone or guests.

I think for MRT i tried it once, through Samsung Pay cos i link my card there but i think you can link to Gpay also then set the default for convenience.

Then once at the gantry, your phone has to be unlock to tap in, i can't remember need to authenticate or not. But i think now don't need to unlock first but your phone need to be on, which might as well be unlocked. Also, i think once you placed it there to detect, need about 2-3s. Go try when it's not peak hours

Good to know that NFC is widely available, me still living in NFC-less MiMax3 cash stone ages, will take note when I change to an NFC phone. Don't think my mum will bother with it tho. :)
