Good to know that NFC is widely available, me still living in NFC-less MiMax3 cash stone ages, will take note when I change to an NFC phone. Don't think my mum will bother with it tho. :)

So your mum is gonna get your hand down MiMax3 ah? I think it's better also for seniors to learn how to go digital. What i'm afraid is how they think it's so convenient that there's no digital theft lol. My mum only learn how to draw money from ATM few years ago only, start out late then everything also gong gong. I teaching her that day, she press each number will say the number out loud :s22:

I'm using MM3, she's using Note 9S. Her old phone was like Redmi 4 or something, now her phone is better than mine. :s13:
Just checked her camera, no sight of dust. Hope it stays that way.

They did reported that it's Note 9 and Note 9 Pro, didn't mention Note 9S. Usually parents get handed down phone haha.

Thanks for the tips! That's a good summary.

- Paywave/Visa/whatever contactless credit available
- NETSPay
- SGQR

Didn't even realise the NETS terminals have contactless option. :s13: Does NETSPay work as "ezlink" card for public transport? Or only GPay can work for that purpose?

That's true but you'll be losing out on the NFC. If i have a choice i wouldn't have gotten the 9S but the 9 Pro

Though i've also just got the Poco F2 Pro to compensate for the lack of NFC, then i found out it doesn't have MicroSD lolol
I would strongly suggest you to get a 9pro. :o It is only few tenth dollars cheaper but the possibilities are much more with a 9pro for next few years especially with the NFC feature. :o
Used 9 pro for 1 day and it's really good. So very tempted to get another set once they refund me the current set.

Would you wanna go for the Poco F2 Pro? It's like almost the perfect flagship, except no OIS lol. But only if you can get it on the low end of 500

That's why i've have been holding back on using them cos of all the confusing shiakz with different merchants. I think the SGQR is the right way to go even though it's no diff but in the mind of consumers, it's a lot less confusing. What i'm looking for eventually is,

--- Tap on terminal (even with phone off) -> NFC detect amount and
prompt authentication -> Check amount then authenticate -> Finish. ----

This should be at Hawker center too.

The lack of a uniform payment platform is why it took me this long to get onboard NFC (other than the draw of being able to see my ezlink transaction and top up remotely). It's certainly more fleshed out now, but still kinda confusing as to which vendors will accept. :s22:

But I do see NFC and QR as the new norm in the near future. Just needs to get a unified platform that all vendors get onboard and polished transaction experience like how you mentioned.

Think started with dark mode. I turn on dark mode reboot, turn off dark mode reboot. Till now icon seems OK. Just no QC indication.

I also enabled my dark mode, however I am sticking to MIUI theme the dark metallic one. :o So far okay for me. :o I suspect is the crash of the theme display. :o

One thing I enjoy from 9pro is the google messenger. :o They have been successfully blocking those SPAM messages (SMS) and I just have to report and delete those rubbish messages. :o

9 pro cannot set notification light color and vibration type. Last time can set sms red, WhatsApp white, group chat purple..if see purple means boss msg, can don't read so won't have blue ticks.

Coz I've been using Note 4 for 3 yrs..from Note 5 onwards, I lost touch with the new features. But the notification light colours are really useful. Too bad they removed it.
