After missing the last promo, haven't seen another that can go $300 with local warranty. Not sure if they will do it again...

Redmi pad 2 is launching imminently. Don't think the Xiaomi official stores on lazada and shopee are stocking Redmi pad gen 1 anymore. But i think if you don't mind export set, can get 6/128 for $270 from Little India shop.

Actually I saw some in this price range on shopee too, but I wonder if they are global sets or China ones. If China sets, I think domestically they selling sound rmb899? Even max out 1000, also less than sgd200. Which is I also thinking if anyone has experience buying redmi pad directly from China?

I might be wrong but official SG warranty set only comes in 6/128 config and you still can find it sold for ard $330-350. Those selling below $300 no doubt is china export set. But then again, china set can be flashed to global rom. Just have to follow online tutorials. As to buying directly from china, not sure whether its worth it since you still have to factor in shipping cost and online tax.

Apparently the rumoured Redmi pad 2 will be Redmi Pad SE, toned down specs than 1 and likely cheaper. If that's the case, maybe will camp for the China set releasing end month instead of getting Redmi pad 1

Tone down spec of 1? Wtf plenty of redmi pad 1 reviews already complain that it’s slow and laggy.

Slow & laggy ? Are those reviews from power users ? :ROFLMAO:
Bought this for my mother, I never once felt it slow or lag during the entire setup.
It's not a flagship chip but more than fast enough for daily tasks.

True, maybe the reviewers all used to their ipad speed / responsiveness haha

Bought 6/128 international rom export set during Lazada 8.8 sale. Paid $250 + $20 cashback. Did some preliminary testing and so far so good. Gonna give it to my mum for her media consumption needs. I know what i am getting for the price so i don't expect flagship performance. I don't feel the tablet is sluggish during usage. Then again, MIUI can be quite the resource hog so 3 or 4gb ram sets might feel the lag. Nowadays, 6gb ram is really the baseline.

For those interested, can follow this tutorial to debloat your Redmi pad.

Using this method I removed a bunch of xiaomi and google apps which can't be normally uninstalled. If you know what you are doing, you can also try removing those telemetry apps if you are worried about MIUI pinging data back to servers in china.

So the Redmi Pad SE comes with a lousier SOC, slower 10w charging compared to already slow 18w on the 1st gen and the base 4gb ram model retails for 200 euros. No wonder PRC forum users are laughing their arse off saying this Redmi pad line is to chop western market carrot head. Those looking for budget tablet faster go get your Redmi pad gen 1 export sets on the cheap while you still can find them in stock.

That's like almost sgd300. This amount I can get redmi pad which has higher specs. Makes no cow sense at all. For such lower specs, even official local set I won't pay more than $250
