I already know how to drive, can you skip the CDC school or private driving lesson
and straightaway book the Practical final test?

Already pass BTT and Final theory.

Thanks

Unfortunately no, when booking for practical you will have to key in your instructor's IC number.
So I think the best for you is to engage with a PDI and just learn a few lessons in the circuit and then book your test.

Hello everyone,

Can recommend me any good PDIs that reside in the East? Reasonable rates and most importantly, doesn't slack off his primary job.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Toad, you might wanna check this out: Reviews of CDC Private Driving Instructors (Class 3) -

From the list, it seems like those with high passing rates did not have such good user reviews (soh guan hong, ang lian ann). However, there are some with good reviews and decent passing rates (chua ah huat, poh kok seng)

Hey guys,

any recommendations for PDI for Class 3/Class 3A at East Area?
I live very close to CDC that i can walk there myself. Don't need the PDI to fetch me from X place.

Not really interested in school as I'm trying to cut cost while getting a license.

I've looked through
http://pdireviews.com/reviews-singapore-pdis/reviews-cdc-private-driving-instructors-class-3/

But seems like there's very little reviews only, not very comfortable as the reviews might be biased.

Edited:
Preferably charges less than $39 per hour.
CDC School is like $65.27/100mins or $73.83/100 mins. $39.162 or $44.298/h.
If charge more than 39 per hour, might as well go to the school instead :[

Anyway why Manual Charges are cheaper than Auto? Thought learning Auto is easier? lol.

can anyone confirm that PDI now charge a $50 "subscription" fee? A PDI that I recommended to a friend now charges $50 to each student, claiming they have to pay an amount to the driving center to be a "registered PDI".

manual charges are cheaper than auto for private because manual cars are more efficient and do not use as much fuel as auto cars.

as for the price, you also have to take into consideration the circuit fees. For private students, circuit is at 30$/hour on top of your current fee, but of course if you're good then maybe at the most you only need to go into the circuit once or twice only.

They do have to pay an amount to the driving center, sort of like a license fee. But how much is the amount, no one knows.

But for the practice of collecting $50 subscription fee, I would say majority of the PDIs are already doing this, only a rare few of them doesn't. It's partly to try and prevent the students for "instructor-hopping" after they have taken them in as students.. if you are a PDI you wouldn't want that to happen right ? and this $50 registration fee serves as a way to do that

So $50 is a reasonable price? Because a few years ago when I learnt I didnt have such fee, and my friend didnt check if other PDI are doing the same, he just told me, so I thought I should at least give him an answer. :o

True if I am a PDI I wouldnt want my students to keep changing.

Thanks for the reply.

you can just check some of the private online schools to see whether they are charging this $50 registration fee:

SOON TIEN DRIVING SCHOOL
"REGISTRATION FEE $50.00 (PAYABLE FOR PDL HOLDERS ONLY) "

Cathay Driving Centre - Class 3/3A
"A one time registration fee ($50) is required for enrolling student"

so I suppose its quite a common practice. I haven't engaged any PDI yet so Im not sure though, and I am by no means endorsing those 2 schools , just using them as examples since they are the ones I can think off the top of my head.

Hey FroztSpectre, thanks for taking the time to look through pdireviews.com, agree that there's not that many reviews there as of yet, but I believe there's still a decent number (currently 180+) which might be able to help some bros here. For those who have learnt from PDIs before, do help give a 1-2 min review :)

For youdontknowme you're looking for a PDI in Tampines right? Can't exactly recommend one who operates there but can recommend this list who works at Ubi/CDC: Reviews of CDC Private Driving Instructors (Class 3) -. Can rank them by passing rates and user ratings.

Based on both passing rates and ratings, Toh Ban Bee might be someone I wanna check out. I see a number of other interesting PDIs on the list too which you might wanna check if they have lessons in Tampines.
