Agree that he doesn't put across his message politely when learners makes mistakes, minor ones included!

Chat to eat your time? How does it 'eat' your time? Unless he ask you to stop driving. The only thing is sometimes he need to take a pee about 3mins in a nearby coffee shop and usually ends lesson about 5mins earlier. Still acceptable for me la...

Since I am with him already, just bare with his bad sides lor... don't want to pay another $50 enrollment fees

Because during class he chat other topics rather than focus on teaching, and even though I keep asking to bring me often to circuit since I am not confident at parking, he didnt agree always.
Yes each my class he goes for peeing nearby coffee shop....if he just shout at me I. can accept, but I cant accept he almost hit me! !even my parents never done that before, I paid for learning knowledge, and as a student, defitely we will make mistake since we are still leanring.

Probably because he does not have adequate circuit slots. I know he does sometimes transfer his student to learn from other PDI for circuits due to the above reason.

What you mean by deposit? I only paid a $50 enrollment fees when I started with him.
Non-claimable to offset lesson fees, strictly as a 'sign up' fee.

If you paid anything more than the norm of $50 that you are getting ripped

I feel my experience with mr ong teck kiat is alright. I think i learn a lot from him. Maybe cos my learning style and his teaching style match.

Always slow down when approaching hump or hole if not wheels alignment n suspension not good. During bend brake, slow in fast out. Overtake must be in correct gear + rpm so can accelerate swiftly into place safety.

Anyone heard of Mr Ng Chin Lye? He only teaches auto and rates are $48/1.5hr for weekdays and $51/1.5hr for weekends and TP about $300. So far I read everywhere the rates are about $30+ for auto and TP is less than $300.

Am I about to get scammed or is this rate normal?

prices have increased a bit the past few months after CDC raised their prices in June...

TP cost now usually is $200 for rental of car alone + 1-1.5 hour cost of warm up ($30-$48) + circuit fee[some PDI double charge for this]) + $20++ (for TP test admin fee paid to CDC)

The $30+ for auto you read I believe is for 1 hour, not 1.5 hr.

Oh okay then it makes sense and I guess his rates are reasonably good right? I told him there were other people charging much lesser, he said its okay and I can go and compare compare here and there. If we can't be teacher and student still can be friends. Super friendly instructor!

i wouldnt say its good but i dont think hes overcharging

but the avg now is $30-$35/hr for manual or auto (auto a bit more expensive). i would suppose its better for you to just call up 1-2 more instructors to check their prices just to confirm

Hi,
I've been learning manual 3-4 years ago with a PDI but didn't pass TP, and then went overseas for studies. Just came back last week and re-applied for PDL and retaking FTT in November, planning to take auto lessons now lol manual cmi!
Are all PDIs charging enrollment fee now? Does anyone know a good and good auto PDI at Ubi?

It is a common practice for all PDIs to charge enrollment fee, usually its $50 one time fee. anything more need to check back here.
For ubi, maybe can try www.sgdrivinglessons.com

Anyone got experience with class3 PDI called David Low teaching at Admiralty area? This is the 2nd PDI I was taught by as first one passed me to another PDI after 1 lesson for unknown reasons. I've read lots of horror stories so far and i think he is a horror PDI as well.

From first lesson he shouting at me for every mistake and i didn't think i learnt anything. We hardly got anywhere. Although i didn't stall his car he would scold me for not signaling and checking mirror during moving off. During stopping he would scold me for stopping too slowly, not checking mirror no safety as i forgot to signal, braking too hard, etc. 2nd lesson was pretty much repeat of first one. Although i traveled longer distance it was still the same not checking mirror during turning, never keep to center of lane, braking too late, gripping steering wheel to tight.

I don't think i can stand taking 10 much less 20 lessons from him. Every single thing he will shout at you and threaten to stop teaching you. You ask him a simple why question he will phrase it as if you are challenging him and answer sarcastically that since you want to do it this way he will teach you the ali baba way and make sure you go away after a few lessons. I think he is worse than SAF trainer.

Hi May I ask if I could take a break now?

Currently at cdc school, finish FTT and done 14 lessons but recently have no money left to continue.

Usually charge $68 per lesson but now have a additional $5 "miscellous charge" every lesson. (Dunno why)

Will my FTT expire and the lessons I took get void?
I know I have to renew my membership with cdc ($49?) but...
