hi guys i recently passed my tp for class 3a, first try with 8 demerit points. and i think my pdi not bad.
anyway i took around 17-18 lessons including circuits and warm up and more of it was 1.5hr which my pdi charge at $51 (if he feeling good or lesson end early then maybe $50 lol)
he only teaches around ubi which is good cuz all the test routes are there anyway. if you live near him and happen to be his first or last lesson of the day he will do pick up and drop off but is within the 1.5hr.
can pm me for contact details:)

There's this Instructor, drive a gold Nissan sunny , SJJ plate one. I used To go for he's class 3, manual lesson. He always start the lesson with 10mins toilet break. And then do admin like pay money alr then only move off with actual driving. Actual driving is about 50% hear him talk theory on why must do this why must do that. End of lesson, the amount of hands on experience is little. I don't like it and I find it cheating of student money. (Mr Tay pin Hong )

I then went on to find a class 3A Instructor located in Admiralty, he drives a fairly new Mazda 2. When I took he's lesson, the car is less than 6 month so old. Initially he's rather strict. However, at last I realised he does so is so that you won't lost and stun and don't know how to react when in times of panic. He's good. I pass 1 time:) ( Mr kan:) )

Hi Can I have Mr Kan’s contact please?

Hi just want to share my horrible experience with a PRIVATE INSTRUCTOR Frank** who pick up at Tai Seng MRT/CDC in his silver toyota axio. Feel so heart pain i wasted $ engaging him for lessons. He never gives full 1.5h lesson except for first lesson. Always end early and worse still, he also will drop off ANYWHERE HE LIKE and give lame excuses at the last min that he need to rush off Also he will go toilet even if he comes late and the best is he will still end early every lesson regardless. It is very difficult to understand him cos his pronunciation is so bad (sounds like he has false teeth).

First lesson he will be on best behavior since he wants you to pay $70 enrolment + fees(54 for 1.5h)...subsequent lessons you will see his other side. Always use phone and eat in the car and he doesn't like you to ask him questions regarding driving lesson plan. He gets SO irritated and will say haiya dont ask me. Just do as i say. Like wth? Keeps making you round the same ulu roads and waste lesson time. When I asked him the difference in parking in circuit vs parking in his ulu carpark he will say no need think so much. Then he wil nag and nag and say like this you will confirm come back to me again after TP(Mindvoice: Like hell I will come back to you)

He super ex you must pay 400+ for TP !!!!!!!!!! He think he driving BMW isit?

What a rip-off! You will be better off learning at the school. He say he driving from early morning so tired. Like srsly? who asked you to take more students if you cant cope. He is so old still want to make a fast buck. Though driving school lesson is slightly more ex but at least the tp is wayyy cheaper so even if take on 2nd try not much heart pain. Imagine taking Frank** and paying 800+ for 2nd attempt in case you screw up your 1st attempt :O
Engage at your own risk.

There were many good reviews about Frankie Yue though. Is this the same Frank?

I'd like to recommend my PDI too, Mr Raymond Tan Lai Soon. Teaches you everything you need to know and makes learning driving a breeze. He teaches at BBDC and I'd strongly recommend him

Different instructor have all different rates bro.
Car rental are around the $250 mark. For lesson. Now the mark is around 36-40 per hour. Which I feel $40 mark is kinda expensive for a manual car. Circuit I not too sure yet. This are all from the different instructor I got quote from. I just gave a rough gauge. Hope that helps!

Hi, sorry didn't read your text clearly. That actual depends on how fast you learn and whether your instructor will push you for TP. If you're not ready/slower learner then maybe need more lesson then normal. But for private normally total damage is about 1.5-1.8k
Cheers!

Hi, would like to ask if it's a normal practice for a PDI to charge insurance fee on top of enrolment? I was quoted $70 for enrolment and another $70 for insurance.

Edit:
Didn't realize this question was asked before and no one had an answer for it.
Change of question: Did anyone actually pay for insurance with a good PDI?

Hi, is the instructor Mr Ong? I got a quote from him as well for insurance fee. I felt weird as I don't wanna pay so much on the first lesson + you also wouldn't know how good he/she is. My best bet is just go with those wouldn't insurance. People still pass driving without a problem.

Cheers!

Hey bro, yes it's indeed Mr. Ong. It was a recommendation by my friend who passed on first attempt under him. Actually, I would like to discuss further about this issue. Would you kindly send me a PM with your number? My post count is still under 10 so I can't message anyone.

thanks for the reply! What I meant was just the TP practical test itself. How much is the car rental and the test and everything included for the practical test? My instructor quoted 380+ and i was wondering if it was too ex or is it average?

May I know your instructor quote you 380+ is included what? 380+ I feel is kinda expensive, even school also doesn't cost that much to rental their car + warm up for test.

But I meant if you already started lesson with this instructor for quite sometime, then is up to you whether you want continue. If not, you have to pay another enrollment fee for a new instructor

Cheers

Hello bro, read your PM but still can't reply until I have ten post counts. Oh well, might as well continue the conversation here until I can PM you.

About the insurance, I know now that it's not a standard practice to be collecting that additional money. But did any of the other instructors you approach talk about what happens if any accidents occur?

And was Mr. Ong also recommended to you by someone? From what he told me over the phone he says he mostly takes in learners by recommendation.

Oops. My bad. I thought I PM you, you could reply back though:s22:

Nope. He's the only one that quote me an insurance fee. I got his number from some website and took him about 2 days before he called me.
So far no instructor approach any talks about any incident occurring. But from what I know, maybe like once every 100 people will have some accident? This I'm not very sure.

I ask someone in the forum, asking whether is it normal, he just reply a rip off that's all. Haha. Sorry I couldn't help you much!

That's good to know. Anyway I was saying I've read your PM, not asking you to read your PM haha. Well I finally have ten post counts so I'll bring the conversation there.
