Just got my license last week. Class 3 (MT), 1st time pass. ;)

My private instructor's from Cathay Driving Centre at Bedok Central. I had a Mr Tan assigned to me. He does nag quite a bit, but I've personally found his nags quite useful. It can be a bit demoralizing some lessons when things don't go right and he keeps at it. But I believe he wants the best for you, so he does what he can. And if you're disciplined and focused (and learn from your mistakes without letting the nags get personal), it'll go a long way. Also, he has made his own "kerbs" so you can practise parallel parking/vertical parking. Well, I can park in the tests (without poles) quite well, and a large part thanks to him - he makes it seem easy.

He starts on time and ends fairly ok. Has never taken a toilet break on me. And personally, because I got so used to his nagging and reminders, despite getting the infamous TP Tester Mr Poh Ah Soon (google him - he's well known for failing most of his testees), Mr Tan's nagging actually was extremely effective during the test, and it helped me keep my cool and still drive well under TP Mr Poh.

The driving school admin girls are also pretty nice, so the school gets my respect and hence recommendation. The other 2 instructors I've had tried under them are Mr Giam and Mr Seow, but Mr Seow is retiring this year.

Just got my licence on 1st attemp with this instructor:-

Mr William Lek - 9021-5833
Car - Manual, Mit Lancer
Feedback - Patient, kind, nv scold ppl (at least nv scold me)
Base - He's registered with @ Ubi driving school
Pickup - YCC MRT

Last of all, i think pass or fail is base on individual progress. So i'm not sure about his passing rate. Most important is comfortable with the instructor teaching you :D

nice... i am his previous student too :D but i arrange with him at outside ubi driving school... he alot more popular now and slots seem very full lol =:p

how the car? still good aircon? :s13:

Anyone knows what's the market rate or the cheaper rate you can get from PDI for

1. Per Lesson
2. Per Hour

And for those that charge per lesson. How long is a lesson actually ? or how do they measure a lesson ?

Thanks.

I'm currently taking Manual driving lessons under Mr. Chow Jie Seng (Francis), recommended by my friend. He's currently driving Mitsubishi Lancer.

He's very patient, friendly, nice to talk to (can really crap lame jokes together :s13:) and his teaching methods are really good. I'm always looking forward to his lessons. Very humourous person i must say :s13: . Even my boss who used to have bad experience with private driving instructors many years back is currently learning under him. Iniatially my boss wanted to try out but after 1-2 lessons, she confirmed that she want to continue learning under him . Reason being he is REALLY PATIENT and WILLING TO TEACH :spin: .

His contact detail as follows:
HP: 90087777
(Only at Ubi area)

Hi all!

I contacted Mr William Lek about taking lessons from him but he was not free.

He referred me to his partner, Mr Tan instead.

Anyone heard of him before?

Another instructor under my consideration is Mr Toh Ban Bee.

Any one learnt under him before?

So many instructors, really in a dilemma over who to choose.

:(

hi. does he does pick up/drop off at hougang area? cos i'm currently learning from another pdi at ubi area and i find his teaching really bad. impatient and when i make mistake he just scold but never bother to correct.

and his scolding really like yelling at me those kind. sometimes when i'm driving he will just jam break and shout at me for not checking blindspot when i check already and there were no motorcycles/cyclists.

so is this mr chow jie seng a nice guy? would really like to know more about him before changing instructor as i've had quite a traumatising experience with my current one.

p.s. im 7 weeks away from my tp.

Maybe you can try calling him?

He seems like a nice guy from what I have seen here.

I contacted him just now but he had no slots for me and would be going overseas in the next week or so.

I hope to start ASAP so not going to learn from him.

From the sms and his prompt replies, he seems like a responsible and polite guy :s13:
