i would like to ask you all if your instructor did ask you to book your tp or did you all just book it on your own accord?

I kind of just had a nasty brush with my instructor over this issue. What happened was:

My instructor recommended me twice to go book. Once just after my tenth lesson, the other after my 13th. I ignored the first time as i thought it was too early. However the second time he asked, after asking him how many lessons are there left with approx to Which He said 3 or 4 i thought fine sounds fair maybe i should go for it.

A few days later i decided to do the booking and I rang him up to double confirm that he thinks it's Ok. So i went ahead. Then he asked me if i wanna go for e circuit this week and i told him Ok.

All was fine until i went for my next lesson where i asked him what will we do in the circuit while i was driving. To Which he said you're still a while away to go for it, no point going now since you haven't finished learning parking. I was like Wtf. I told him politely that Hmm you asked me to go this week leh then he was dumbfounded. Then he asked when was my tp date and i told him mid may. He started counting and said no time no time. Throughout the lesson then he was pretty much annoyed and impatient.

At the end of the lesson i asked if he thinks i should cancel and rebook. I said I'd rather spend 20 more than 100 plus more. He didn't comment.

Has anyone experienced this before and could you please advice on what to do? Thank you

For my case, my instructor never ask me to go and book TP. Only every lesson when I step into the car, he will ask me when is my TP. After which I said I haven't book, then he tell me "Good good, don't book first. When you think you're confident then book."

As for BBDC, waiting time usually 3 weeks then is your TP date. So you should roughly gauge. So in my opinion, I think one should consider for themselves whether they want to buy TP first, not their instructor as you should know yourself better if you're ready to go.

I see...fair enough to say that we need to consider on our own part as they can't force us, that's for sure.

I just found it annoying that one moment my instructor went ok ok, the next moment a straight no, who knows what's the next time gonna be :\

Thanks for sharing :)

If you really don't feel confident and you still have trouble parking properly, then I would suggest you cancel and rebook. You should be able to complete the circuit and park properly before you take the test, obviously. Also, no matter how many times you take the private circuit, try the school circuit at least twice before your test! It's not the same as private circuit.

Not sure who your instructor is, but certain instructors have so many students that they can't keep track of who is how far along. Most probably when you called him, he had no clue which student you were. lol. In any case, if he tries too many stunts, be sure to fire him.

that time i like you like that, only learn once a week. then i realized not good enough because after one week will get rusty, then will never be able to get used to the car. after that i went for lesson twice a week.

depends on the person also actually, as mentioned by fellow hwz forumers.

u can try calling Mr William at 97947250. he used to teach my wife at ubi using lancer but recently saw him teaching at ssdc using vios.

but i must tell u that my wife failed twice learning manual under him, maybe not his fault. my wife just passed under another instructor but she changed to learn auto.

If anyone wants to learn class 3A, my father is back from his semi-retirement. You can reach him at 96663369 (mr soon).

he stays at woodlands
rate is $27/hr
flexible teaching hours
experienced (driving instructor since 1977)

he used to run a small driving school w about 5 instructors (robin driving centre, in Toa Payoh).

he's very good tempered. that's all. anything else i say should not carry any weight as this is not an unbiased review.

where will the pickup point be?
