Hi all,
I managed to score a 18 pointer in my 1st attempt today, very lucky to pass but nonetheless I will like to mention that my Manual Car instructor Mr Michael has really been a very patient and knowledgeable instructor throughout these 4 months.

Some info about Michael:

Location: Ubi, always meet at the Coffeeshop beside the driving school.
Speaks Mandarin and English
Patient and very willing to teach
Last lesson is at 4.30 or 6pm, weekdays and weekends
Rates: $36/hr, TP test $250 for car n insurance etc.

Good Luck to all!

can pm his contact details?

I am still thinking to between CDC and BBDC to do my lessons. I wanted to PM some of the replies but I do not have enough post. 🙄 It will be good if anyone could share with me pdi who are straightforward, objective and can give me helpful driving tips.

Thanks!

Idme231:
Will it be possible to share a bit more on the pdi and contact? By the way, out of 10, how would you rate your pdi? (10 being the best).

CDC Private learner here too.
Also from PDI in ubi coffeeshop.
Class 3 Toyota Axio vehicle, Graduated 2 weeks ago this month. also 18 points, CDC is common for 18 points.

First of all, my TP Package is $300 with warm up, so i have no issues with that but thankfully i passed with first try. I guess ur PDI and my PDI are common there, give me tips on the slope at car park because can kena score strike curb.

Go to school, and you see you are wasting ur time there, i spent lke 1.8k in private after switching from school. My PDI always ensure i have enough lessons, 2 months before my TP he is prepared to ask me to pick my test date.

Secondly, abut the clutch, for me, i always move off with my clutch only but it will rock sometimes due to friction, so it normally stalls, he is quite good on the first day itself teaching me how to use biting point that the school doesnt teach me, and left me thinking how to do for a few months.

If anyone or else, do wish to engage my PDI, please be cautious if you are the person who dw to take critism, if you keep lagging and do poorly in ur fundamentals after repeated times , he will be nagging and at times scold and alittle shout at u and ask u to go home and practice (especially ur steering wheel).

Lastly, for those who PM me about my PDI, here's a food for thought and you can ask me about my PDI via PM if u wan more info, i am only giving out numbers if u are serious with him.

I also curious on certain things... do the school (example bbdc ) need to know which instructor is teaching you ? Like if there is any record that you are taking lesson from Private driving instructor A? How to ensure that you are taking driving lessons from qualified personnel?

Sounds highly suspicious to me. If i were you i would change an instructor. or change a school entirely as even for me, i never had to pay so much for circuit lessons.

Just a note to all!

Look out for signs of an "optimistic" instructor.

There are many instructors that tell you you are ready for the test just a few lessons in. There are many who also assures you that you just have to try and try again at the test and that the tester usually does not allow first timers to pass as they just don't like to let youngsters or first timers get a license so easily (and wreck havoc on the streets).

Yes, it boosts your self esteem. Yes, it spoons your ego to sleep. Yes, it feels like you can save a lot of money if you just go for the test quickly and (if) you pass it. Yes, it seems like you are AMAZING and you really have what it takes to NFS & be the next Drift King as it is in your blood. But remember, if it seems too good to be true, it most probably isn't what you think it to be.

What my instructor and also some TP friends told me was that PDI's always would want you to take the test as soon as possible and as many times as possible. The faster they get you to take a test, the more money they'll make cos you will most probably (touchwood) fail with that little practice and coaching. Think about it;

1 hr lesson: Instructor earns $30-$50 for having to stay sharp and ready to jam break and to teach you and to talk to you and to nag at you.

30 mins Test: Instructor earns $250-$400 for sitting at the coffee shop at the test centre waiting for you to come back from the test.

So just make sure to not let your ego get to your head. And don't have blind faith in your smooth talking instructors. If they ain't always nagging at you, correcting you, giving you tips, chiding you, they probably are just passing time to collect money from you.
