Thanks for your insight.
I guess I'll give it a go with the $32/hr instructor. Not sure about the peak /non-peak rates, it was mentioned in the call that I wanted peak lessons in the evenings and also some lessons in the weekends, so perhaps this is the peak hour rate that they gave (32)

Many thanks

I learn my driving skill from Mr Lum.

Hi to all bros and sis out there, does anyone know where to find above mentioned that charges reasonable rates and provides fetch and send service?

Nowadays realised that most private driving instructor not very reliable, friendly and gives sub-standard teachings

Any help greatly appreciated.

I actually hesitate to reply you but maybe you will like to give a chance to consider. Coz Mr Lum doesnt provide fetch and send service. But since he is a good instructor I will still provide you with some info.

I passed of TP on 5th November and now im finally here to share about my PDI.

Mr Tan Kim Seong is a AUTO private driving instructor at BBDC
His pick-up/drop off point is at bukit gombak MRT station
Deposit is $50
Lesson is $48/lesson and per lesson is 1.5hours

i passed on my FIRST try! Had about 18 lessons inclusive of 3 circuit lessons
Total cost of getting my class 3A license is about $1200-1300 inclusive of test fees (theory + practical), circuit cost and car rental. The total cost could have been cheaper but i took more lessons and an extra circuit cus i was kiasu.

Good things about him:
1) Doesnt eat into your time. Even if he goes to toilet, he only goes before class and he will make up the time for you.
2) Good tempered. Even when i mount curb he only nags and never once scolded me.
3) Step-by-step teaching. Very standardised teaching which i felt was good. (he will record down your progress and even have a book you help you visualise how to do parking and stuff)
4) Doesnt eat, sleep nor chat on phone during lesson. if ppl call him, he will tell them to call back ltr at night.
5) VERY experienced. he will stop me right before i hit the curb in circuit, open the door and show me how near i am to the curb. After which he would teach me how to correct the position of the car.

Bad things about him:
1) ONLY sticks the teaching on test routes which may get boring during lessons
2) Abit naggy (but better than being fierce)

His passing rate is quite high too~! so im glad i found him on the forum and i am here to share about him now!

If i never remember wrongly he drives a silver honda car. :)

OH YAH. I FORGOT TO SAY THAT I PASSED WITH 8 POINTS!

i just passed my FTT.. Planning to start learning asap.

From what i have found:

William Tan 97250952
Tan Cheng Kiat 93887679
Chow Jie Seng 90087777

seems to be more reliable?

which should i choose? ?
Anyone got more review about them or any other instructors in the east ?

i read through this thread and found out that people who have bad PDIs are actually considered luckier than me. LOL!!

why? because mine took my rental fee $250 plus 3 lesson $45 each plus 2 circuit $30 each and disappeared 2 days before my TP test date. I kept on calling his switched off phone for the past few days to no avail. Total loss of $445!! -.-'''

Now how's that for a bad PDI that everyone is complaining?

Ok i found out where he is already. -.-'''

he kenna detain by mata on my TP date. i suay i admit.

Your TP test and theory test will be taken at CDC if you have enrolled as Private in CDC

Your view on this!

Hi All! Happy 2014!

I am planning for my driving lessons too!

Jeannieisafairy - I live around the area, and is looking for the same! Are you taking your BTT in CDC or BBDC? Auto or Manual?

Hmm I am hoping to get feedback from you guys too..... A few friends of mine commented that....

1) BBDC test routes are harder to pass because there are a lot of winding roads
2) CDC test routes easier to pass because it is all 'boxed' routes - no winding roads, but a lot of lorries /trucks near CDC so can be quite dangerous

What are your views?

Lastly... I know there are tons of recommendations and stories here... I am looking for someone humble and patient to teach Class 3 Manual PDI .. if you have anyone to recommend, do PM me! Thanks much!
