If you renew your Certificate of Entitlement (COE) in Singapore after its expiration date, you'll have to pay a late renewal fee and the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP) for the month your COE expired. You'll also be charged late road tax.
Consequences
Your vehicle will be automatically deregistered and you won't be able to drive it until you renew your COE
If you don't renew your COE within one month of its expiration, you'll have to dispose of your vehicle
Late renewal fees
The late renewal fee depends on the type of vehicle you own
For example, the late renewal fee for a motorcycle is $50, while the late renewal fee for a private motor car over 3,000cc is $250
When to renew your COE
You should renew your COE on or before its expiration date to avoid late fees
You can renew your COE by post, but you should do so at least two weeks before it expires
What to do with your expired COE
You can scrap your vehicle or revalidate your COE for another 5 to 10 years
You talk so much (truth) in renewing and deregistration..

But I count at least 5 guys at my estate who just heck it and drive their cars around without any valid road tax.

When I ask LTA why got these buggers running around, they tell me they are "monitoring the situation".

That's why our roads are full of reckless drivers...

Heck it la! No need renew one. Just drive until happy. No enforcement anyways...

The projection by experts is that starting from Feb 2025, there will be a down trend. It will drop by $2k-$3k steadily until end of year which will stagnate at around $70k+ for Cat B, $60k+ for Cat A.

Why not ?
I can choose to delay up to 1 month to renew the coe and pay a fine for this delay

Good luck, and enjoy the next 10 years with your current vehicle.

As always, the good Bros here are always here to give car advice on vehicle maintenance and upkeep.

Is it worthwhile to renew COE for a 20 year old japanese car? My 2L Honda reaching 20 years in Mar 2026, have renewed once in 2016. By 2026 time it probably hit around 180,000 km on the odometer.

Should I renew now or wait till next month then I renew ?
Scrap your cat and take back whatever remaining PARF then switch to Public Transport ba. Now COE so high!

Should be road worthy go for another 5 years. However, if you can afford, go for another 10 years renewal. Even if the car chiu liao, you can still take back pro-rate amount of COE. If renew 5 years have to scrap when COE up.

U should Renew
It will be more sensible to renew than to get a new car to avoid depreciation
