Request for recommendations for eReader device

I recently set up a Rakuten Kobo account and bought a number of ebooks but my eyes strain from reading on my smartphone.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a ereader device? i am looking to buy one.

Yeah price is pretty steep. Similar to kindle. But NLB has so many ebooks that I don't think I'll pay for another book. Also it really helps the eyes. Anyway I had 2 kindles previously and their lifespan was about 5 years? So hopefully the kobo clara will last that long or longer.

Did you order your kindles online? I am looking to get the Clara but also on the lookout for cheaper options, if available, so far, I identified Kobo Forma, but its like USD$400..,.

I bought my kindles second hand actually. I now have a kobo clara and it is about SGD$200.

I paid for a new Likebook Mars on eBay for S$200. It's well worth it. Can change font, add storage. There's a new model now.

Usually sells for $300. It's a 7.8 inch 300 dpi screen, perfect for novel reading. I can't stand small screens.

Just to check, can it read all e-books regardless of where it is downloaded from?

Just to check, if I get a Kobo clara, does that mean it can only download and display ebook from Kobo?

Same goes for Amazon Kindle, can it display e-books downloaded from elsewhere or only ebooks downloaded from Amazon?

I am using libra2 so I am happy with the purchase

of course it will be good if you can try out the display sets, but it is hard in Singapore

Do you find the screen size of the libra2 sufficient? As I get older, I feel my eye sight getting strained.

The size of the words can be adjusted

But of course, you can consider Kobo sage or elipsa for bigger screen

please note that newer models use USB C instead of micro USB

you can request for the box and “feel” the size, since the e reader pic shown on the box is identical size to the real one
