Depends on unit's requirements. Because we have tons of 3SG, I doubt any of our CPL will get a chance to become 3SG. But in my colleague's unit, one CPL in his platoon because 3SG 'cos they short of specs thanks to MR.

because the rank promotion will be quite different.

Depends mainly on orbat, appointment, unit and number of reservist cycle.

men rarely go 3SG, usually local promotion. Thou i've seen reservist medic whom went for spec cse and promoted to 3SG.

Specs, usually PS etc go up to 1SG. CSM/BSM up to staff/master or even 3WO for RSM after going thru courses.

Officers CPT quite common for BC/OC/2IC and Maj for CO.

Note, all above examples are for combat, not sure abt non-combat.

CSM/BSM that go up to staff/msg are formerly regulars become nsmen or nsfs become nsmen?

both. but usually if there's any regular who did not continue extending their contract and is still liable for reservist, he'll most likely be given the KAH role thats within his trained capacity instead of a non-exregular.

when u reservist, having lower rank is always better. The lower the better, lesser **** to do, at CPL rank all u do mostly is sleep in bunk while specs and officers do all the **** work.
