For some roles yes. Not uncommon to hit 600k to 1m in a year.

So what happened to the work you used to do for your last employer ? Did it get re-allocated to someone else, outsourced or just done away with entirely ?

My one and only other colleague who has been covering me when I'm on leave would have to cover even though he's not the subject expert. Plus he won't be able to take leave easily.

My first and only retrenchment thus far was back during the 2007 - 2008 crisis. The only "silver lining" was that it was a very large group of us that got retrenched, along with many others across various industries. Company eventually toh as well.

There are quite a lot companies retrench staffs just that mainstream media never report either do MOM. They only report those Big corporation if they do retrenchment. SMC , those small companies they will not report.

My wife said that her bank has been letting go of all their contract staff. Better don't work as contract staff in banks as they are the first to kena retrench.

Still received msg from people in the industry inviting for CNY lunches. Had to reply had left the company already. Sometimes don't wish to disclose too much and just said I have left the company but I guess people can always infer.

I did msg some close contacts in the industry of my departures and many were encouraging. Hopefully I am able to get some job leads from them in coming weeks.
