I was surprise weekend exchange rate lousy for revolut.. Ringgit 3.06, but use revolut become 3.03.. Once finish the $ inside.. will switch back youtrip..

I thought we can do the exchange on a weekday/non holiday and lock the rates before hand?

should compare mastercard fx rate vs visa fx rate for youtrip vs revolut..

so revolut is using visa exchange rates? Youtrip uses mastercard rates? I remember mastercard generally has lower exchange rates for most countries. How come Revolut got lower rates?

Wah why got commission one...so complicated. Might as well use Youtrip? Simple and straightforward

Sent from Stamford Bridge using GAGT

I'm confused. The commission you mentioned is the 1% commission on weekends right?

Revolut does not use Visa rate, it's on Interbank exchange rates. when you open the app to perform FX exchange (e.g. SGD to AUD), you will see the live fluctuation on the rates in the millicents.

https://blog.revolut.com/understanding-the-interbank-exchange-rate/

No wonder. So Revolut uses interbank exchange rates and Youtrip uses mastercard rates right? Hence generally Youtrip has higher exchange rates not including weekends or public holidays(based on UK days)?

so if i go oversee, i should bring revolut and YT overseas?

But is there withdrawal fee charge for revolut?

YT is charging SGD 5 per withdrawal on top of the atm charge (if any).

Hope some experts can answer you. I seem to remember you can draw up to $350 or somethings with no charges for revolut.

Strategy depends on each person's scenario. I would use YouTrip on weekends if i need to swipe credit card for purchases or only when i run out of cash.

Draw all your required cash on weekdays (no fee up to $350 for standard card) if you're on short trips or places that are cashless society (i'm looking at you, Japan) on Revolut.

Yes, SGD$5 is in addition of any ATM fees (if any)

Nope, TransferWise has the worst rates of the three because they charge a fee. I just used all three cards on a weekday in Malaysia to try out their rates.

I’m surprised that even with the 0.3% markup by YouTrip compared to Revolut on a weekday, I got SGD1 = MYR3.060 for YouTrip and SGD1 = MYR3.061 for Revolut last Friday. Is the reason because one uses the interbank rate and the other MasterCard rate?
