Out of all the Rota rims, only the Slipstream and J.SPL are 5kg (for 15"), the rest are much heavier. That's why I highlighted these 2 models specifically.

When you run over a pothole hard enough any rim will break or warp - cast rims are more likely to break/crack than warp, forged rims are more likely to warp than crack. That said, I have experienced warped cast rims too, and I have posted a video of an original SSR Type-C that broke apart on track.

As for how likely any of this happens depends on the build quality (which is usually dependent on the manufacturer).

Rotas are cast rims just like most Taiwan replica brands. Most people agree that Rota build quality is better though - could be slight, but still better than most Taiwan brands. Of course they still lose to the branded Japanese rim makers like Enkei or Weds.

icic... thanks for the info!

In my humble opinion, i'd use light rims for acceleration and handling. The FC is the least of concern because the money spent on a set of Volks can pump lots of petrol. :s13:

can at least give me an excuse to change?

to be frank i have driven so many years in singapore, the only pothole i ever run across is in JB. Singapore arch nemesis for cars are road kerbs. Even the best rims when scraped hard against the kerb will leave a big dent and scratches.

More than 300 per rim without tire. Original not replica. Your Rota is lower league. :o
Volks 15" already around $450-$500 region per rim I think. Apparently the major players increased price a few years back claiming due to exchange rate, but never ever lowered it back down :s8:

Poison you.
I ordering a set of TE37SL 17inch. Either gunmetal or black. :D
You might want to reconsider, ALTC flooded the market with replicas until even if you're on originals people will think they're not. It's just like what happened to the Wedsports.

Maybe consider RE30 in Hyper Bronze Premium or RE30CS instead

Yeah i know lots of replicas out there. :(
RE30 too many spokes for my liking, my current 10 spokes already clean until sweat.

I know, honestly my favourite rims are 5-spoke, best for showing off BBK

Like the Nismo forged rims made by Rays:

But I ended up with the thinner spoke version, the Gramlights 57F:

Not my car, but you get the idea about showing off the BBK here ;)

Unfortunately, both are now discontinued :(
