Here's a new comparison thread to compare stashaway vs syfe.
A short introduction of the companies:
Stashaway said:Stashaway uses Economic Regime-based Asset Allocation® (ERAA) that harnesses economic trends to maximise returns at your desired risk level. Traditionally, portfolios have been optimised according to the Nobel Prize-winning Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT). However, academic and industry research indicate that MPT fails to consider the impact of external, changing economic conditions, and how they impact returns.
ERAA® (Economic Regime-based Asset Allocation) enhances MPT by addressing external economic forces, which ultimately drive asset class’ returns, volatility, and correlations. ERAA®’s three pillars, Economic Regimes Determine Asset Allocation, Risk Shield, and Valuation Gaps, together deliver a macroeconomic portfolio management strategy that minimises risk and maximises returns for personalised portfolios across any economic environment.
Syfe said:Syfe uses ARI or Automated Risk-managed Investments strategy that combines the best of two leading approaches - Global Market Portfolio (GMP) and Risk Parity Portfolio (RP). Stress tested across the last 15 years, ARI automatically adjusts your portfolio to ensure enhanced risk-adjusted returns by managing your portfolio's Downside Risk (DR).

Why Syfe Portfolio 25 vs Stashaway P30
Stashaway risk index is calculated based on 99% value at risk (VAR) meaning that for portfolio 30, there is 99% chance the portfolio will not lose more than 30% at any given time
Whereas, syfe portfolio is based on a 97.5% VAR, where it will not lose more than 25% in value 97.5% of the time (or another way of saying 39 of 40yrs will not lose more than 25%)
In order to equalise the 2 different formulas, we need to standardise the measure
99% Var = 2.326 SD
97.5% Var= 1.960 SD
To convert 25% risk syfe portfolio into 99% VAR,
25%/1.96 * 2.326 = 29.66%
Which is why stashaway portfolio 30 is a more suitable competitor to syfe portfolio 25.
