there are few ways to define "safe".

my advise for beginners, buy ETF and only check once or twice a year to review. no need to check evyday.

I think this is wonderful advise for any risk-adverse / conservative / new investor. Depending on if you can follow it.

Hi Tutonic,

Thanks for the advice and offer for refferal code, but I have already signed up using a referral I found on Stashaway way before I posted my ques here ****************** Anyw what’s the difference between local and US portfolio? Which one is safer and/or have higher interest? Ps, don’t think I’m able to PM

Local = SG ETFs traded here in SGX while US = ETFs trade on US stock exchange.

It's always a good idea to diversify your holdings geographically, to some extent.

If you want safer, you cannot get high returns. If you want high returns, it won't be 'safe', relatively speaking.

For Syfe's REIT portfolio, I think it's not too bad. If you DCA monthly, it's realistic to expect about 4% returns per year. I'm currently at waaay above that right now since I went in during the recovery phase in May.

For Stashaway's US portfolio, I think 14-18% risk portfolio is the sweet spot. No point hold too many bonds if you're in it for the long term (more than 5-10 years). I'm personally in it for the very long term (>30 years).

Side note: I'll most likely be starting a 100% REIT vs Managed REIT comparison thread (like the one blurpanda did in this thread here) in the coming weeks since I'm actually curious as to how much is the actual difference between the two if you DCA monthly or twice a month.

Hi everyone, I just started on my investing journey. Opened a stashaway and Syfe account, I'm using stashaway general investing at 14% risk preference and for syfe, I'm using REITS+. I started off with $1000 each and plans to DCA every month. I plan to leave the money inside for a long long term, looking at 10 to 20 years time horizon.

Can I find out whether is there any difference if I DCA on 1st day or any other day of the month? Also, for stashaway and Syfe, do I set up some kind of giro payment for the DCA? Thank you!

No real difference whether you DCA on any particular day, unless you can see into the future and buy on the date where it's lower..

You set up Standing Instruction via your bank ibanking app. For Syfe, after you key in your Portfolio Reference Number, that's all.

For Stashaway, you need to go to Manage Deposit, and then create monthly deposit plan or something. Then after that you create Standing Instruction for it and key in your Customer Reference Code.

Personally, for my standing instruction, I do it twice per month, since might as well. No extra cost anyway.

Also, given that you just created an account, did you use a referral code for both of them? If not, can PM me and I'll give you mine. You can just email the support and they'll add in the referral bonus.

has anybody noticed some of the buys were buying some units at a rate different (much more expensive) than it has been buying it at?

im referring to syfe's equity100 and just using CSPX as an e.g.

8 sep - buy - 0.14 units - price SGD 476.143
9 sep - buy - 0.01 unit - price SGD 558
21 sep - buy - 0.16 unuits - price SGD 444.375
22 sep - buy - 0.01 unit - price SGD 428

notice the buy on 9 sep, why the price difference so big?

Stashaway broker saxo might have buy it before market crash on that particular day.. my portfolio they also buy at day high when market is red.

Hi all,

Started a Syfe REITS+ portfolio this week and invested a lump sum into it. So far its performance dipped a little, but I'm doing long term anyway, so hopefully it goes back up :)

I've been taking a look at the Equity100 and Global ARI portfolio too, and I'm wondering if this period will be the right time to start on these portfolios?

I do have some spare cash right now, but I'm also wondering, should I do DCA or lump sum investing?

haha i just started today. But i small fish, put $500 in Equity 100 and $200 in Reit100%. I take dip as opportunity.

DCA every month $200 to each portfolio. Dip more, buy more. When it turns green, you will see fruits.

It doesn't really affect if you are long term investors. If you are those short term like to short short short then GG already

How you do this?
For Syfe I have just put recurring transfer crimes daily from OCBC in.
For Stashaway saw it's monthly any idea how to make it work? Or is it the same?

If you want to deposit $50 every week, for example, set your monthly deposit plan to $200.

That's all. It's that simple.

Ya.. correct.. for my case, I put my monthly deposit plan as $1500.. every time transfer money will auto go into that portfolio..

Just make sure your actual deposit don't exceed your planned deposit else they will call you..

All the robo are for DCA.. I will recommend DCA over 6mths to 1 year period with any cash tt u can spare.. safer this way
