Haha.. both of you seem to be talking on different wavelengths..

But I believe that while LS8+ might be better, it might only be slightly different for most people.

At the end of the day, get one that you find worthy and happy about.

For me, LS8 is too much for its price, and i already find LS4 really good.
Therefore its under my choice list, however the new cosmic ears is also tempting in its own ways. Plus the reviews were pretty good.

So i ended in a stalemate of Adventurous spirit or Safe Spirit.
Troubled!

Hmm, one of these day i will go back to try the LS4. i cannot remember exactly though. but i remember i like LS8+ haha

i just ordered last friday lol. Damn long way to go. Not sure impressions reach rooth le ma. Hope they start work on mine fast. Initially i ordered elpis, then Rooth side say my impressions too old. So i go null and redo, changed to LS4.

i still think the best CIEM from rooth is still LS6 follow by either LS4 or LS8+
i wonder if any body is planning to order their 10 driver custom ....

10 driver custom?

Means reshell tf10 plus add 7 drivers

Or are you referring to a 10 driver custom which Tia gong is going to be coming out soon?

Managed to demo the Rooth LSX5 on Saturday with a friend after Mook.

Was informed by Kevin at Null Audio that the LSX5 shares the same drivers and crossover with UM Merlin.
However after demoing both (Merlin some time ago at Stereo), the twins are as different as chalk and cheese.


Merlin has a slight V shaped frequency for me.
It has deep punchy bass (a bit too much in quantity for me) and extended treble with slight sparkle.
The mids is slightly recessed.
Soundstage is wide and pretty in depth, as I would expect from UM.
Clarity and separation is pretty good.
Overall signature is fun sounding, yet still pretty organic and detailed.


LSX5 has less bass quantity, but the bass is of excellent quality.
The decay of the bass is just nice, without being too weighty.
The mids is slightly forward and present. Very organic sounding.
As with Merlin, treble is extended with slight sparkle, yet smoother than Merlin.
Soundstage is slightly narrower, but equally in depth.
Clarity and separation is equally good.
Overall signature for me is very smooth, organic and liquid sounding.


Bye bye Dream Earz 7x.
I found the perfect complement for my Miracle.

I felt the LS5X was a lot more refined than the merlin. The tonal balance was a lot smoother and the bass was rumbling when needed, not overly pushy and does not bleed into the mid/upper range. Merlin is a very exciting IEM but bass gets too overpowering on certain genres that I listen to. Huge soundstage for the Merlin though and I like that aspect.

not to mention the LS5X is cheaper than Merlin. hehehehehehe.


recently i'm thinking of going to null audio to have my Merlin tuned to LS5X as well.. i mean... Its time for me to experiment slightly new sound sig for my ears :D
