If it serve well than don't need to change.
Especially what type of game she play.
Roblox etc. don't need to upgrade GPU.

Alternative will be Gigabyte RTX 5060

Like others mention that Powercolor GPU despite cheap but the cooler is weak.
If the cooler is weak when playing games the fans will be extremely loud.

The Gigabyte RTX 5060 wise will be better very quiet, I tested before so far is OK.

recently she's also playing subnautica 2 with me, the 2060 is struggling~
isnt it the consensus to avoid 8gb cards now?

seems to be the going rate over the past year, can camp for laz/shp sales vouchers and try get under $500.

bobian, cheapest one i can find atm~
dont remember having noise issues with this card, quite average noise profile like not whisper quiet but nowhere near jet engine either. u should be fine and can always tweak the power target and fan curves anyway.

if can get for good price why not. but yea if spending more than $400 8gb cards are a bad deal.

No, that game is very CPU and GPU intensive.

Sad to say this if she wants to play at smooth framerate as well as higher resolution.
You need a beefier CPU and GPU.

Example AMD Ryzen 7 5700X with RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
*5800X locally cannot be brought anymore.
This would be best option for you, AM5 issue is DDR5 are very ex.

But I know TS got $ is just always aiming for best value stuff.
Meantime try adjust the setting as well as make sure you install latest AMD chipset driver.
I know some users don't install the AMD chipset thus there are issues like micro stuttering.

her monitor is 1080p but planning to get a cheap 1440p for her, saw below 300 over shopee 31.5"
at 1440p main load should be on gpu rite?
9060xt should perform way better than the current 2060 ba?

i still have a spare pair of 16gb ddr5 ram on hand, but dun really wanna upgrade too much on her rig as in a new cpu+mb on top of the gpu+display
afterall, shes only 8yo...

there should be quite a substantial gain just going from rtx2060 to 9060xt no?
the card is 7yrs old~

Depends on the game, I will still recommend you go for RTX 5060.

out of budget tho for the 16gb variant and if im forking out 800+/- for it, i would just go get another 9070XT instead
plus im really not too sure about buying a 8gb card in 2026 when a 16gb is available for the same price

Like I mention depends on the game, RTX 5060 8GB should do fine for that game.
Especially the resolution she is playing on, 1080p is OK for 8GB any higher than need more VRAM.

I would rather he get RX 9060 XT Reaper 16gb for its performance, anyway the card also has warranty and powercolor actually a good brand for AMD Card. Somemore going to upgrade to 1440p, surely can use the additional ram and performance.

Maybe I'm bias. I almost got this card early this year for my son's rig, but the price shot up to 579 or around there. In the end i got Msi 5070 Shadow 2x instead :s22: .

Issue is TS want the cheapest bargain he can find.
The irony is TS got $ but if can get cheap just get cheap. :s13:

Pros and cons of getting last gen cards anyone?
the down side is.. power... that rest i dont think so...
the new fsr is also coming to the 2 and 3 gen rdna so dont worry...
performance wise would be able to run around rx 9600xt
