try rolling back and see first

new is not always good, I still remember a while back newer NVidia drivers cooked some cards :s13:

theres only 3 drivers for this card. 16.6.2/ 16.7.1/ 16.7.3.
-16.6.2 cooks card as pcie draw upto 90w.
-16.7.1 is the fix with bugs here and there. software cant really work properly. but fixed the pcie problem.
-16.7.3 is the driver that keep crashing. holy shiet which one should i roll back to????????????:s22::s22::s22:

16.7.1 first

just see if it gives you problems, if still got move back to 16.7.3

see first, cause drivers from both coys are really :s22: now
(coming from a user of both AMD and NVidia cards for about equal number of years)

Both consumer line driver are similar and not ultra stable (vs professional line drivers) in all use case. Specifically for game rendering they all work fine. The only part I'll really give credit to Nvidia is the vastly more reliable .inf validation process they've did with their installshield package.

AMD side has occasional omissions on specific hardware IDs, especially OEM systems causing updates to not install at all (script kiddies fix this day almost each release on guru3d forums). But retail desktop GPUs are largely unaffected by this catalyst install manager issue (AMD install manager now). In other words, this is a definite fk up.

Overall for a consumer who knows nothing about troubleshooting and driver updates, nvidia's driver packed into installshield is something you won't fk up with.

All this rambling aside, maybe screenies will help? 480 user myself. No stability issues in normal games and benchmarks. Except Wattman crashes (host application, not driver). Had 16.6.2 - 16.7.2 betas + 16.7.3 WHQL all ok....

You have no idea how bad the Geforce FX series was compared to AMD/ATI's offerings at that time :s13:

Had a Geforce FX before so :s13:

You compare a high end card with double the performance. Of course 9600 cooler.

Its like saying you used to ride motorbike, then change to bicycle and you are happier because it use no fuel

And you're looking back now

When in doubt, always use the oldest driver unless it doesn't work for you.

In the world of computing, the golden rules apply:
  1. If it ain't spoilt, dun fix it.
  2. If you install something, do a restart and test it.
  3. Before installing something, backup or create waypoint.

So please allow yourself to be governed by the golden rules.

In times when you are stuck, always remember there are 1001 ways of doing things. E.g. use a USB to VGA adapter.
