I never experienced a driver crash with my R9 380X over a 3 months period.

As a matter of fact, I just switched to GTX 1060 and the driver crashed twice so far. The error was that the driver stopped working.

To be objective, there is no one perfect driver. Both camps will at times pump out good and bad drivers. It is very obvious when you go to forum and read about others' experiences.

Hokay.. original download wasn't WHQL. Now it is.
If it matters, it registers as 16.7.3. Didn't check the actual driver versions, but here's the page for comparing.

yappie is not wrong... 16.7.3 = 16.7.2 (WHQL) touted by AMD.

how sia. I bring there they test with 3Dmark no problem they will ask me go home. I get constant crash when playing da division.

So now is the problem game specific or even general use?? Or general use its fine, when open division it crashes? There is a huge difference here.

no OC the FS is 9800. OC FS is 11300. i oso LL.

Hokay... after power tuning, no raising of power limits.

Hmm... DL latest driver. Use uninstaller or any driver remover to totally uninstall the current driver from your system.

Restart com. Then install driver see how.

OC only 11521 score?
also running i7-6700k? 16gb ram?

Improve performance of this card got 2 ways.

A. OC
1. Raise power limits
2. Raise power limits + undervolt (better performance)

B. Undervolt

In fully stock settings, it will power throttle because of poor factory tuning of the reference card.

If you run fully stock it still gets severe instability, most likely a DOA unit. Don't need to test further. If its necessary, just capture some shots show distro that you can replicate it, should they be unable to do so.

That's an overclock on the high side for the reference card. There's no doubt it'll crash your driver if your overclock is poorly optimised. If you're giving it insufficient voltage/power limits for 1350, it will crash, AMD or Nvidia.

As a start, you might just want to go for 1266MHz, auto voltage +10-15% power limits, put custom temperature targets.

If you're feeling brave or experimental you can do performance tweaking this way, its easier to do so.

Just refer to this guide. For ease of tweaking, just don't use all 7 states for frequencies. Set at a single constant value.

If you don't care about OC, probably you can just implement this
wbGabWg.png

  • Start from stock clock 1266/1265MHz, all 7 states same
  • Stable voltage for a typical RX 480 sample will be ~+/-1080MHz
  • If stable on stress test, can consider drop 5-10mV at a time

but weird thing is, i get same score when i clock 1330 vs clock 1350.

btw, driver still crash even when stock, so i believe its not oc problem.

Tried contacting the distro? Might be a bad unit.

On the OC part if you OC and get the same score, power throttling. If your power limits and voltage are peaked, you can't push it further anymore but to dial down the settings.
