i also encountered the same issue.
what i usually do is that if it is charging too slow, eg. after 5 mins, still do not increase by 1%, then i will plug out, adjust the adapter and the usb cable and then plug in again.
most of the time, it solves the problem.
however, i never encounter slow charging of my S3 when using my blackberry charger in office, so i suspect it's adapter/usb cable.
ya! tats wat i did too..unplug n plug in..it works bt nt all e time.. hahaha...
in e end i went svc centre just now..they told mi its a common prob n they exchange a charger n cable to mi.. now i use its working very fine.. n strangely e charging speed up.. 10mins 9%!!! Mayb you will like to visit them for ur issue as well.
To all S3 users having this problem, usually the problem lies with the charger+usb cable, or, the battery? If it's either one of those, do you all exchange just the charger/usb cable, or, together with the battery as well?
When I googled around for information, what I got from another
site was:
"What do you mean by "really slow to charge"? A couple hours or a bit more is normal depending on how low you are. This is a 2100mah battery, so it's larger than most standard smartphone batteries. Also, you're not draining your battery down to zero are you? You should plug it in when it gets down around 20-25%. Draining it lower than that will take much longer to charge and its not good for the battery to drain it to zero. "
True or not? Getting the battery down to below 20% will only slow the charging?
Anyway, here's my input of what happened so far, from my observation -
9th February 2013:
Purchased and played around with the device till the battery was down to 4%.
At 1900hrs: Started to fully charge the battery using the original charger+cable (4 pins) that was provided, for the first time and realised that the charging was extremely slow. And it got to only 24% by 2100hrs.
10th February 2013:
At 0755hrs: Battery was fully charged to 100%.
At 1804hrs: While at work, the battery was down to 48% and I tried charging it using a Nokia charger (5 pins), the charging was fast as it got to 58% by 1825hrs.
At 2300hrs: Back at home, with the battery at 18%, re-charged using the original charger and realised that the charging was very slow again like how it used to be.
11th February 2013:
At 1100hrs: Battery wasn't fully charged and was only charged up to 81%.
At 1200hrs: Decided to change and tried using my HTC Sensation XE charger (5 pins) instead, charging was fast and had gone up to 95% by 1225hrs.
Some even mentioned that the charging issue could be due to the micro usb cable having
4 pins, which slows the charging.
"Another thing you may try for charging :-
The micro usb cable supplied is having four pins (there is space for 05 pins). Try using a cable with 05 pins. This may be a wild guess but i have 02 cables one with four pins (came original) - giving charging problems. another cable i have is having 05 pins and it charges great. I am not sure but worth a try.
during poor charging problem i faced earlier my phone would charge less than 20% in 01 hour. Now it charges at rate of approximately 1 % for every 1.2-1.4 minutes( approx. 40-45-50% in 01 hour)
except when it is almost charged to more than 95% when it takes almost 3 minutes or more to charge 1% "
Another solution to this problem
is:
"Before updating to JB, I thought my phone would have the charging issues as well (which it did have after updating) so I searched for possible fixes for the slow charging issue. You might wanna try this one, as this worked for me:
1. Plug your phone into the charger (battery removed from the phone).
2. Wait for a few seconds (phone still plugged in without the battery) then insert the battery and quickly turn the phone on.
After doing this my phone charged faster compared to the 6-7hour charging time of other users. The first time I charged it after the JB update I already did this and it charged for 4 and a half hours to 100%. Right now I'm charging it for the second time -- after 3 hours and 20 mins. it's now 100% (from 40% charge left).
I hope this could help. Cheers!"
Enlighten me please.
