early feb seem to be the date they finish their "testing". It will take a while more till it is ready for release.

I heard that the NP 8150 has better thermal cooling potential and so it can accomodate the GTX 485M GPU. Not too sure what's different beyond the GPU capability...

Maybe Sager NoteBook is cubehub? Since these are the only 2 sager retailers that I know off....

If the whole GPU have the burnt part, do you think any technician will go further repair or return back??

Anyway, to all past and present Sager laptop users, I'm going to buy a Sager notebook soon because of its lighter weight and reputation as compared to its competitors. However, I'm not sure whether I should upgrade the CPU from the Intel i7-2620QM to the i7-2730QM...

- Both models are faster than the previous i7 mobile quad core CPUs and are more or less on par with the previous generation of extreme edition mobile quad cores...
- 217 dollars more for a 200MHz upgrade of minimum speed and 400MHz increase of maximum single core turbo speed

BTW, I'm using this notebook for office work, internet surfing, research applications and definitely gaming until middle 2011 when I will set up my Sandy Bridge Desktop to take over the gaming functions.

I hope to play COD: Black Ops, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Medal of Honor on medium-high settings.

Hope to hear your comments and recommendations soon!

For your purpose, it's quite pointless to upgrade the CPU. Games seldom if ever bottleneck on CPU, and the rest is not CPU intensive at all.

Hmmm, u can try GTA 4 and running PCX2 (PS2 Emulator), CPU bound...thus i experience a jump in performance from my 720QM to 920XM...

NP8130 has a smaller PSU compared to NP8150 (hence u cant get the higher-end gpu)

NP8130 has a matte screen whereas NP8150 has a glossy screen

NP8130 comes with a default 8gb ram as compared to NP8150

NP8130 cost around 100 too 200 lesser and has 4gb more ram than NP8150 ;p

basically u save some cash and get xtra ram, a matte screen but limited choice for future upgrading.


anyway, I just got my NP8130. Thumbs up for MucroAsia for delivering the laptop on sunday night 9pm! Laptop came in good condition (or so it seems :/ need some more testing to be sure). The laptop has a nice black "glitter" finishing instead of a pure black colour. The weight is rather light and as usual the power brick... is still a huge brick. The screen looks good and has a wide viewing angle but i'm not sure how well the matte screen works under sunlight since its 10pm now...

how is the matte screen?
btw, i also notice the above difference between 8130 & 8150. so if we change power adapter to 180w like the 8150, we can upgrade the gpu without any problems?
i saw some youtube by xoticpc, the internals between these 2 models look identical

The matte screen is pretty good. Didn't really have a chance to test it out under a strong sunlight, but did tried using it in MRT, even with the lowest brightness i didnt hav any issue reading stuff off my screen.

not so sure abt the changing of PSU but i heard some overseas reseller are offering matte screen for the 8150. Not sure if the local reseller r doing that though (since even overseas, only a few selected resellers r doing it).

PCSX2 is the only few that is CPU bound simply because it doesn't tax the GPU at all because how graphically backward PS2 games are, but there are almost no PS2 exclusive games that can't be ran smoothly with PCSX2 on a 720QM anyways, 620M works better actually as PCSX2 doesn't really make use of 4 cores. Even for games like GTA IV I've not been capped by my CPU at all. People are saying how CPU intensive GTA IV is because of how powerful desktop GPUs are that makes desktop CPU seem to be the bottleneck (even though it's already over 60FPS most of the time, or when they are using 1st gen Core 2 Duo with latest HD5870 desktop, which is very common), but for laptops, the GPU is far from power of desktop GPU, hence, GPU in laptop is almost always the bottleneck, for games that bottleneck CPU, it won't matter because that game is definitely an old game that doesn't tax GPU hence it could be played smoothly anyways.

I regretted buying a 820QM, it's really not worth the price for the little performance increase in some applications, I learnt my lesson and would get the cheapest processor for my new laptop next time.

ya i saw some overseas sellers have the matte screen option ~200+ or more usd...
based on manuals, i believe np8130 & np8150 are the same except for the screen & power adapter. but kinda weird that all the sellers do not have graphics option for np8130.
was thinking to settle for np8130 with 460m, & upgrade graphics in future when i find 460m is not powerful enough. but yet to get any assurance from sellers on this...

So is mucro an official it illicit reseller? And can someone explain to be the difference between mucro's regional carrying, sg onsite, warrant onsite match, and sgcubehub's carry-in, onsite warranties? Right now I am leaning towards sgcubehub for their service program which allows me to loan for free notebooks if mine requires warranty, but can sunstone explain to me how it works?

By the way, I am buying a sager np5160 which had a glossy screen. Can I buy a matte protector to change it to matte?

I like 8150 but there are a few things that make me hesitate:-

1) No matte screen. I hate glossy to extreme. Anyone can recommend good overlay? Otherwise have to go for Eurocom.
2) No expresscard. USB 3.0 can't 100% replace expresscard.
3) the awkward keyboard layout. Until today clevo still not willing to make the numpad a normal one zzz.

You're better off searching eBay or posting in the Sager users' thread in the Notebook review forums. There're a lot of Sager resellers there who can probably advise you on the type of accessories available.

Mucro has lousy service. Call them nobody answer (on 2 seperate occasions). Email them 5 days to answer. By then I already ordered from Sgcubehub.

Temperatures are ok.

Based on HW Monitor from the CPUZ webpage, all 4 cores are at 40 - 60 degrees Celsius under normal use. The average is in the 40 - 45 degrees Celsius range for the CPU.

HDD is at 38+ degrees Celsius

GTX460M is at 37-40 degrees Celsius

Havent run any benchmarks or gaming yet.

Does anyone know how long Mucro and Cubehub have been in existence? Who was the 1st store?
