How is the after-sales support for Sager?

Next-day/Same day on-site/at home repair available ?
Warranty with options for accidental damage to laptop available ?

I'm thinking of Warranty and support like what Dell offers. Are Sagers comparable to Dell in this area?

Sager users please share your experience with me, thank yoo! :)

Well, for me now I'm contacting XoticPC for repairs (I'll fill you in the details after the whole matter is finished.) :o

What I'm more interested now too in is people who are having their repairs through Cubehub. Since it is a nw company and all... :s22:

Hi,

I would have thought that Sager would be widely known here and a small lounge thread would at least be created.:)

Amusingly, none exists on HWZ here, so I made this small-ish one here, so we, the minority notebook users can chit-chat and help each other with minor problems (Where the solution is like, restart PC or update BIOS or drivers or cleaning the insides of our *ahem* investments. :D )

Ppl who want to know more about how to get one themselves and what the shipping costs may be who the heck are Sager can come and post a question, hopefully answered within a day. :s7: (There seems to be an influx of "Is Sager that good?" or "Should I order through reseller or direct off manufacturer?" questions recently, which is messing up the forum a little, heheh) Also, before posting, please read this FAQ tread also: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=264311 so general questions can already be addressed.

....Also.....

Sager notebook users of Singapore, here's your chance to show off your notebooks! Post your specs and the year you purchased it (Sager models are replaced quite fast don't ya'll think?). If you want to, we would also like to know your purchase experience and your line of work too! :s12:

I'll post mine first:

Sager NP9262 (Clevo D901C):

17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9650 3.0GHz w/ 12MB L2 Cache - 1333MHz FSB
nVidia Quadro FX3700M 1,024MB PCI-Express DDR3 DX10
4,096MB DDR2 800MHz (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory
3x 500GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 8MB Cache) (Total 1.5TB) in RAID 0
Panasonic UJ Blu-Ray ReadWrite Super Multi DVD+/ -R/RW BD-R/RE Dual Layer Burner
Smart Li-ion Battery (12 Cell)
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Installed (Soon to be Windows 7!)

Year of Purchase:

2009

Purchase Experience:

I purchased mine from XoticPC and the service there was (and still is) excellent. They will reply to your queries within the day, during working hours. For example, the one of the staff there, Justin Woitte was ready to help in literally every question I threw at him, from whether I could squeeze another Quadro inside the NP9262 (Don't ask =:p) to the Telegraphic Transfer application details.

I ordered through UPS and had to pay the 7% GST by cash. Didn't have the cash ready on original delivery date, so had to say bb to the package just sitting 1 metre away for a few days (Heart pain :() But got reunited with it in the end! Just in time for start of work!

EDIT: Ah, also, people who wish to buy Sagers from US, please learn from my mistake of assuming the 3-pin plugs we know and love are used worldwide! The 3-pin plug supplied by XoticPC was only tailored for US power sockets only, so you may have to buy an extra plug or pin adaptor (Is it called that?).

Line of Work:
Student/Amateur artist/Amateur composer/Part-time writer

Finally, any pics of your notebook will be duly appreciated! :D

Cheers!

Hi, just wondering how much did you pay for the delivery charges? I am assuming its around 100++ usd to ship it to singapore using UPS?

It's US$200+ UPS Expedited.

harky, we cannot compare the heat signature of a gaming laptop like the Sager with a normal notebook/laptop that most run-of-the-mill laptops are. A simple reason is, most laptops use low-power components especially the GPU.

In today's desktops, GPUs like the GT260, 275, 295, ATI4870, 4890, etc generate in excess of 70W and nearly 90C on load.

U put a similar chip into a laptop, like the 260M or 280M which generate 75W on load into a confined space like a laptop with a HDD (which generates on load ~40-60C) and a CPU (40-60C), it's a small miracle the laptop isn't registering 50-60C in our humid climate.

Normal laptops that run on 8x00 or 130M chips will run as hot at the CPUs and 40-50C is to be expected already. Even netbooks will run hot after awhile unless u're in an air-conditioned environment.

If u want a desktop replacement but fear the heat, get a USB keyboard, USB mouse and a laptop stand.

BTW my NP8662 will arrive within the week. Will post pics and benchmarks!

Found a pretty good (an recent) review of the Sager NP8662

http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptop/sager-np8662-gaming-notebook.aspx
The ability to provide a heart-pumping game experience is more important than scores on paper, however, and the Sager NP8662 was able to slice through the latest titles like a rail-gun through zombie flesh. We were able to cruise through Call of Duty: WaW, CoD 4, and L4D without any trouble and with all of the graphics turned to high. In CoD: WaW, the ripples in the ocean as we stormed the beach looked like real water, and the leaves on enemy helmets shook with every footstep. Explosions after we called in missile strikes launched bodies and flames high into the air, and thanks to the system’s horsepower, that meant we could knock out a few baddies at the same time without worrying about lag.
...
The US$1,487 Sager NP8662 was a joy to game on. And it doesn’t try too hard to look like a gaming system, so you can pop it out in Starbucks and frag without onlookers gawking at you. It was able to slice through the latest 3D titles, and it offers excellent performance for the price. The Sager’s speakers could be better, but if you’re looking for a gaming notebook that delivers without breaking the bank and will fit in your backpack, the NP8662 gets the job done.

harky yeah have to send back... will be a big headache tho, incurring large shipping costs and possibly even another GST charge(?). Altho I recall for PC Torque they absorb the first return. If u're worried about repairs, get Sager locally via SGCubeHub.com.

Sorry I edited my post after u posted. As above u can get Sager locally via SGCubeHub.com.

Sager is US, MSI is Taiwan. For me the key diff is that for MSI u must buy a fixed config, while with Sager u can customise abit (HDD, CPU, RAM, panel, OS).

Thanks for making it known to me about http://www.sgcubehubs.com
I did not know there was a Reseller for SAGER laptops in Singapore.

Best to get from local company. Much faster to get support from them. Also no need to pay for expensive shipping costs, compared to when you order from the USA.

Actually, the shipping costs for Cubehub is already sewn into the base price. That's why The price difference when ordering for Cubehub and XoticPC is about SG$100-SG$200 only for my Sager, including shipping (where greater price is from US). :)

Well I'm not wrong, Sager IS US. But yes Clevo is a Taiwanese OEM, but I dunno any site or shop that sells the Clevo OEM. Any lobang?

If u're keen on Sager, for 15" panel the 8662 is good while for 17" the 5797 is not bad.
