I am quite concerned, what with all the new resellers popping out that one/some of them, there may be dubious. <MrJacky please check the reseller status for us? Please?> :(

And yes, since this is a niche market, there shouldn't actually be a sane reason for so many resellers to be popping out as well.

Either that or it's just me.:look:
Eh?

Yes there are actually 4 known resellers.

The 4th is PC Dreams, you can find them in SLS. ;)

PC Dreams is in the same boat as we are. Whatever you order through Mucro or PC Dreams. The sources are similar. At the end its about the price and warranties that you have to be concerned about.

Nowadays, we advise people to order with the OFFICIAL Sager warranties. These promotions will murder us but you will need to understand that even if whatever "resellers" will not be around, Sager is BIG enough and WILL be around for you to do your warranties. Its always better to use the BIG BROTHER for support.

Haha.. I guess sager should look at another aspect which is their design of their laptop..

I know many dun mind, but teenagers nowadays actually prefer colourful and aesthetically nice laptops.

Coupled with ncie design n powerful specs, i think sager will be able to go further in singapore.. One thing that is preventing me from buying sager compared to asus G6v or smth is sager look like typical IBM square laptop..

Eh? Sager has square laptops?

<Opinion train rushing through...>

I agree that even I am really put off by IBM's square Thinkpads, but Sager doesn't have geometrically square laptops (rectangles btw :p), if you inspect them at a closer range, you'll find that Sager has rounded the edges, making their notebooks tidy and professional-looking.

Though they are starting to spice up their laptops with a very fiery-looking logo:

Dunno... I have used a large range of laptops, from Dell, to Fujitsu to HP to IBM to Lenovo.

I find the Sager's clean lines and understated aesthetic to be very appealing.

Got extended limited warranty. Can check with cubehub or Mucro first cause we still need to discuss further on sager side.

Extending Sager's warranty will be under Sager's discretion. You'll need to look around for quotes.

I'm quite surprised by your statement. Companies in price wars never lose money. Slashing prices even though there is literally little prospect of a bulk of customers means less profit, that's all.

Companies only start losing money if they have invested lots of cash in the quaternary industry, which is to say R&D (the least reliable source of income). Resellers hardly touch R&D and simply touch up on their marcom affairs to attract customers. I'm sure the "price wars" were thought about carefully. You can't simply pull Shangri-La tickets out of thin air, or ask the counter staff. Deals must be made, or else the tickets are bought later.

You need to know that on our side. There needs to be money allocated to the warranties in margins. Think of it as an insurance pot. At least judging from what is calculated now, The margins will not sustain the crazy local warranty promises. Even though we are bigger, we have been warned not to make excessive promises. In this scenario, it is not the price war per se that will affect us, its the warranties. We will not be pleased to have the Zepto operations bail out the Sager operations.

The risk you are referring is lose first-win later. This is a win first-lose later.

Warranty itself is a cost and a price . And a long term one in fact. The moment a company throw out a warranty let say 3 -4 year. We are using our reputation to assure you. The cost of upkeeping the cost of repairing a warranty is in fact will hurt the companies in the long terms. If the long term cost of upkeeping will slowly decrease profit . In the long term.

Gimmicks cost money. And it is a long term cost .

I am not interested in gimmicks but one thing that IMHO will draw customers past and future to your business is to extend warranty and modding/upgrade services to Sager owners who did not purchase their Sagers from you.

In other words, honour Sager/US warranties like International warranties. I'm willing to pay for that.

In fact I hate gimmicks. Dun try to entice me by throwing in this and that. I prefer barebones (hardware no software) purchases. If u can throw in this and that, I prefer u lower the price instead.
