You need to know that on our side. There needs to be money allocated to the warranties in margins. Think of it as an insurance pot. At least judging from what is calculated now, The margins will not sustain the crazy local warranty promises. Even though we are bigger, we have been warned not to make excessive promises. In this scenario, it is not the price war per se that will affect us, its the warranties. We will not be pleased to have the Zepto operations bail out the Sager operations.

The risk you are referring is lose first-win later. This is a win first-lose later.

Warranty itself is a cost and a price . And a long term one in fact. The moment a company throw out a warranty let say 3 -4 year. We are using our reputation to assure you. The cost of upkeeping the cost of repairing a warranty is in fact will hurt the companies in the long terms. If the long term cost of upkeeping will slowly decrease profit . In the long term.

Gimmicks cost money. And it is a long term cost .

Ah, now I get it... Thanks for enlightening me.

However, I feel the "win a trip" gimmick is quite odd, for people selling Sagers. We want to be close to our notebooks most times and a requisite for that is a wall socket nearby. Also, the Sagers are bulky.

I agree that having an extension to the warranty and/or freebies are much more attractive in this market. :)

Will take note of that :s13: Better to have cash rebate and extension of warranty as freebies.

I am not interested in gimmicks but one thing that IMHO will draw customers past and future to your business is to extend warranty and modding/upgrade services to Sager owners who did not purchase their Sagers from you.
modding/upgrading is easy and can be done almost freely (parts not free, labour depends on repair shop kindness). Extending warranty to other customers is complex and difficult. unless, of course, you are still under the Sager warranty. Having the Sager warranty actually takes a lot of weight from us for parts. Labour costs are to the kindness of the service centre.
In other words, honour Sager/US warranties like International warranties. I'm willing to pay for that.
No problem, if you are under Sager warranty, you basically have taken most of the load off the resellers. "Lombanging" if you are under Sager warranty is no problem since we don't have to pay for parts. Parts is the single most expensive element of Sager servicing.

We've asked our account exec for your case and he said we can help others on Sager warranty. Your machine is basically tied to the PC Torque account. If you're on Sager's official warranty, we can still help you service it at low cost and even send it back to the US for severe cases. This is because Sager is responsible for your servicing and we just act as the middleman helping out.

Erm no offense but is that a long roundabout way of saying "no" or "yes"?
